About The Gluttonous Geek

Who is The Gluttonous Geek?

My name is Catherine Barson Eastis, and I run the fandom food blog, The Gluttonous Geek. The Gluttonous Geek seeks to bridge the gap between food and fiction by developing recipes inspired by movies, TV shows, tabletop and video games, podcasts, books, and more.

No matter what world you’re in, everyone eats, and we can meet those characters by sharing a meal with them. I can enjoy some pork pies with Tyrion Lannister from the safety of my White-Walker-free kitchen. I can cook up some chimichangas for Deadpool without having him bust through the window to join me. I can even enjoy tea and Cranachan with my house-founder Rowena Ravenclaw though I still haven’t received my letter to Hogwarts yet.

That’s why my mission is to delve into these stories, explore their worlds, get to know these characters, and then manifest my findings into a recipe that you can cook. It’s like an English paper you can eat.

I've also now expanded my work to include a Twitch Channel where I will stream my weekly behind-the-scenes-prep-work on "Meal-Prep Mondays," as well as a Wednesday live cooking class and D&D miniature painting demonstration called "Munchies & Minis."

So what's your Patreon for?

As you probably gathered, I like to cook. Cooking requires food, and food costs money.

The obvious aside, since I started this blog back in May of 2015 I've intended to turn my passion into a career. After over three years, I feel I have reached the pace and level of quality to expand my work beyond just posting once a week.

Does that mean I'll start charging for recipes? Nope. You'll always be able to access the blog and watch my cooking classes for free.

Joining my Patreon community, however, will give you an enhanced experience beyond just reading and cooking with my blog. I've worked on putting together reward tiers that will:

• Inform you by email when new blog posts, polls, and rewards are available.
• Give you a Spotify soundtrack to cook-along with every recipe blog post.
• Offer you the convenience of printable PDF recipe cards with each recipe.
• Give you a chance to vote on upcoming content, rewards, and bonus content.
• Enable you to randomly receive minis that I paint on the show or other fun things that I pick up along the way.
• And offer you a community of like-minded geeky gluttons to level up your culinary wizardry with.

The table is set, you ready to join me in the kitchen?
