Milestone Goals
Unlock 3 Videos per Week!
$250 per month
I currently only publish 2 videos a week, Monday and Friday at 1PM EST. If we can break this goal I will publish three times a week! Monday, Wednesday and Friday!
New Video Equipment
$500 per month
I currently use a few point & shoot cameras to film the majority of my videos. I'd love to get better more dedicated video cameras and mics for better quality videos. The easier it is to film and make videos, the more time I have to work on the projects! Eventually I'd love to get a thermal camera and a high-speed video camera for filming some of my more exciting projects!
Hire a video crew
$1,000 per month
The biggest thing that slows me down when I'm working on projects is constantly setting up the camera for each shot. I'm a one-man crew and it can be very time consuming doing everything myself. If I had a helper or an assistant to deal with the cameras while I work, I could make projects so much faster! That means more content!
Move into a bigger shop!
$2,500 per month
My single car garage isn't big enough for some projects, with a bit more funding I could actually rent a much larger space to work on projects! Call it Hacksmith Industries.
Quit my day job!
$5,000 per month
If I can get this much funding I will quit my day job (or at least reduce my hours considerably) so I can focus on making more cool stuff and content for you guys instead!
Create Jobs!
$10,000 per month
If I can get this much funding I will take Hacksmith Industries to the next level, and actually become an engineering research and development company / hackerspace focused on creating the latest tech to improve people's lives!

About

If I had a million dollars, I'd spend it all developing my own fully functional exoskeleton (working Iron Man suit).

Hey everyone, it's me, James.

Some people produce music, video games, or art -- I produce videos about applying modern-day technology to make "impossible" things a reality. I appreciate that you made it to this page. Just the fact that you are here tells me you've thought about how much time and effort goes into making my videos. Thank you!

My passion is making props from movies and comics that actually work. My first foray into this was making my own metal Wolverine Claws.

These were enough to start the fire to make even bigger and better things, and I began a YouTube series called "Make it Real".

My most complex and successful project yet has been my Elysium Exoskeleton project. It's drifted a bit from looking like the actual exoskeleton Matt Damon wore in the movie, but you know what? It actually works!

This is only just the beginning. I've made it this far mostly because I got the pneumatic cylinders for free, but as I continue the design, I am going to need more supplies and parts. A portable compressor, a high pressure (4500PSI) diving air tank, pressure regulators, batteries, valves, different pneumatic cylinders, feedback sensors, micro-controllers etc.

I hope that people will want to see this project go further, to come along for the ride step by step as I create something amazing.

I have tons of other projects on the back burner as well -- like grappling hook guns, magnetic boots, a Batman signal, rocket boots, a jet-engine powered sled in the winter, and much much more.

While some people have called me a "real-life Tony Stark" -- I'm no billionaire, let alone a millionaire. I'm just a guy in his garage building and creating things with whatever I can find. It's a bit better than a cave, but most of my parts are made from scraps! Imagine what I could do with proper funding...

If you like what you see, and want to help me out, please consider becoming a Patreon for me. You won't regret it!

tl;dr

Why?
Supporting me on Patreon will allow me to do even bigger and cooler projects. Most of the stuff I make isn't viable to sell, or even bring to the commercial market -- but it's still really freaking cool. Where else are you going to watch a guy build an exoskeleton in his garage?

How? There's several different reward levels that allow you to tailor your subscription. I would like to convince you to choose one, even as little as $1 a month, so you have access to the Hacksmith feed here at Patreon. YouTube's subscription methods are sometimes unreliable, but if you sign up with Patreon you'll always be notified immediately when I upload a video, which is pretty great!

What? If you want to go above and beyond to really take this channel to the next level, consider picking one of the larger support levels -- you won't regret it!

It goes without saying that I would greatly appreciate your financial support. I'll say it anyway though. THANK YOU. I really appreciate it. Patreon has us place rewards here in order to entice you to donate, but if we're both being completely honest... you're here because you understand what I'm trying to do with my channel and you believe the work I put into the videos is worth it!

Cheers,
James
