John’s music is as indelible as it is indefinable. Asked for influences, he creates a guest list to one amazing dinner party: Bruce Springsteen, Guns ‘N Roses, Michael Jackson, Wilco, Radiohead, and fellow Minnesota native Bob Dylan all passing the hot dish. John’s songs have been heard in movies, on network and cable television, on iPods, in cars, on radios, and around campfires. He has performed on several continents and in 49 of the 50 United States. He has been releasing albums on Garland Lane, his own label, for over a decade to an always growing number of listeners. He remains an unsigned and unaffiliated artist and he is proud of that fact. He continues to make a living and build a dedicated following the old fashioned way: one new believer at a time.

I am a performer, songwriter and recording artist. Every year since 2000, I have produced and released at least one full length album. Eight of these recordings can be streamed in their entirety on my website: http://www.thehereafterishere.com/recordings.
I'm going to create a new series of recordings and release them as episodes called audiodes. It is going to be called "The Hereafter Is Here." The first season will be 12 audiodes long: one audiode a month starting in September 2014. The content of these audiodes will be as varied as my catalog of recordings and beyond. The series will be part podcast, part travelogue and part AM talk radio show. Enjoy recurring segments like "Ted Talks" (during which I talk with my childhood best friend Ted) and "Dissecting Dawes" (during which other people and I discuss Dawes lyrics). There will be songs and sound collages. Bono will likely make an appearance. So will several US Presidents.
