Hi! I'm LC Brown, creator of The Heroine's Journey podcast. It's a show that highlights female protagonists and women's stories across geek pop culture, including books, TV, film, comics, video games, and more. You can listen to it at www.hjcast.com.

The reason behind the show is simple: I got tired of podcasts that overlooked women.

Most podcasts these days are produced by and for straight, white men. That’s fine, if you happen to be a straight, white man. But I’m not. As it turns out, neither are many of you.

So I came up with The Heroine's Journey. The goal is to shine a spotlight on positive, interesting and/or complex portrayals of women in genre fiction, and on the creators who are doing it right.

This is a show by women, about women, for women – a space where we can come together and chat about the characters we like and the ones we hate, and know that the conversation will always revolve around us and our perspectives, whatever those might be.

But here's the thing. The Heroine's Journey is a labor of love: As much as I enjoy doing it – especially engaging with fans – there's a lot of hard work that goes into making each episode as great as it can be. And while I never intended to make any money from THJ, many of you have asked that I start a Patreon so you can help me keep the lights on. I decided it sounded like a good idea.

So if you like what you hear, I hope that you'll consider becoming a Patron to help support the show. As a bonus, I've also put together a couple of extras for those of you who do contribute. You can check them out below.

Finally, I'd like to give a huge thank you to all my listeners. You've been wonderful, and made this journey worth taking. I couldn't have done any of this without you.

Thanks,
LC
