What do we do?

Since 2006 we (Angus and Nick) have been producing military history podcasts, essays on military history, which hopefully act to introduce you, the listener, to a new topic or reinforce what you already know.

The Story so far...
Twelve years ago, there was no expectation that we would be producing the podcast for more than a year or so. We just wondered if we could do it and if people would listen.

After 9 million downloads we're still going, and people are still listening.

Like clockwork, we produce twenty episodes per year. The main thing that has changed is from time to time, some of you guys now write the scripts.

But that’s not the only thing that has changed, we've got married, moved houses, moved countries(!) had children (well Nick's first is on the way), got new jobs, lost new jobs and Angus has been inspired to return to University to take a Masters course in History.

After twelve years we're wondering what to do with the podcast, it's never made us rich, we’ve covered its costs but it has never paid us a wage. Increasingly life is making it hard for us to find the time to put the show together, so we’ve been discussing at what point do we call it a day?

The plan
What we've decided is, if we can raise a minimum of $350 each episode we'll carry on the podcast, that finance should allow us to find the time to put the show together, to put aside a day or two to work on it.

But not only that, we'd like to pay people who contribute scripts. You wouldn't expect journalists to write for free, the professional and amateur historians who write for us are all giving their time and we'd like to reward them.

This is where you come in
By becoming a patron you're agreeing to give a small financial contribution of your choice, everytime we produce an episode.

You can, of course, choose not to support the podcast and get it for free, that is fine with us. But it is those people who become patrons of the show that the majority will need to thank as we continue to make more episodes.

We only need 350 of you to become patrons, to the tune of a $ and we'll be starting season 26 in January 2019.

Some small print
We’re committed to completing season 25, by becoming a patron you will not be charged until we launch season 26, from then on you’ll only see your contribution being charged each time we release an episode.
