Hey! You found us! Whew, we’ve been waiting for someone just like you. Welcome!!

If you got this far, you are most likely a seeker, and you are probably looking for something different. I know we were. Now that we are together, let’s do this!

We worked from home. And procrastinated at home, and got lonely at home, and got lost just a little in the housework, and cat conversations, and piles of papers in our non-Instagrammable offices. We may have gone just a little bit crazy. Okay, we went nuts and needed something different. At the Indie Alley we can admit these things openly!

We've heard about the concept of coworking spaces and decided to try it out. It didn't go so well. We had to dress up, or show up as our best possible selves, or just be a proper grown-up functioning person in the world. Barf, way too exhausting. Who has time for that when we just need to make life work.

So we did this: we started the Indie Alley, an alternative to coworking and community spaces already out there. We borrowed the best parts: you know, the coffee, and free-WiFi, and company. The company is pretty nice, like today, when we have a ton of things to do but we want to talk to another human being who also has tons of things to do.

Then we developed the parts we like more than what's out there: like leading with who we really are, complete with quirks and confusions and meandering ways, equally as much as what we do, because how we work matters to us too. We created a gorgeous handcrafted space that has no cookie cutter furniture in it whatsoever! Sometimes we start the day with a dance party or a list of brags rather than mindfulness (we have that too, because we know it has been proven to do good things, and we want to do good things).

We also do this: we support initiatives that empower people who identify as women, and we don't do it on our own. We include all of our allies. Our allies are the men with whom we co-work and those who identify otherwise, and appreciate our agenda of supporting all women regardless of where they come from, how they look and what they do. Together we can shift this important conversation around being a woman. We are open about our mental health: we are people complete and broken. Most important is this: we welcome everyone. We pride ourselves on being a safe space for whoever you are. We are proudly left of center: We embrace difference, we celebrate all our quirks and all our identities.

The Indie Alley is here to: Make. Life. Work. On your terms. With you and for you.

So what's this whole Patreon thing about?

Well, we think we have something unique to offer. We feel very, very strongly that we need more spaces for who people actually are, rather than who we are supposed to be.

If our mission makes absolute sense to you, then please support us. We need your support, we really do, to sustain the Indie Alley and make spaces that are truly people friendly and support lives that don’t fit in a neat box. Also, we love the community that we have already started building, a community of people who work in social media, podcasts, the health industry, interior design, sustainable practices, the arts and music, a group of amazing creative entrepreneurs who we want to keep together as our own family of friends.

And there's another piece here if you are still not convinced: we look hard at who has something interesting to say, who is doing the most mindblowing or heart-touching work out there, who might give us a new way of being in this messy world: like BlueOctober frontman Justin Furstenfeld who performed an incredible set here while openly talking about his mental health; like Alex Locust, the Glamputee who spoke about Microaggressions and had us all laughing and gasping at our own mistakes; like Susie Herricks, who took us from fairytales to being badass women who get to make our own stories. We have more, much more planned: People I've Loved, Lisa Swerling, GirlGangCraft. More voices that need to be heard.

By supporting our Patreon campaign, you also get to support incredible thinkers and makers and creators like these. You get to elevate their voices as we bring them into our space and allow them to be heard by diverse audiences. We'll even share their wisdom and approach with you (at certain perk levels). Support others to find their voice, their community, their people.

We need you. We really do. Be a part of our Indie Collective by choosing one of our perks. Find the place where you belong, whether that's in a cozy seat here, or in that sphere that is the internet. There's room for everyone in this community of the weird, wonderful and everything in between.
