About The jfa Human Rights Journal

WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO

jfa : justice for all

The jfa human rights journal is an online and print publication focused on bringing key human rights issues to light. We welcome various mediums of work: from photography, to art and poetry. More importantly, we guide new contributors through the storytelling process every step of the way.

WHY DO WE DO IT?

The world is changing. So must we.

We are carving a niche in the media industry by creating a platform that showcases underrepresented perspectives on justice today.

There is a constant stream of information flowing into our feeds, peaking through our screens and calling for our attention. We cut through the noise: we raise the voices of individual stories that break away from standard narratives, preserving their factuality without shying away from subjectivity.

The jfa believes that journalism is an essential element of human rights advocacy, giving those who have been silenced a platform to raise their voice. We want to encourage young new voices from all over the world to contribute their perspectives on what justice means to them through a diverse range of formats and mediums.

PROGRESS SO FAR

2019

2020

  • Increased our readership by publishing new content every week on our website. Written, created, and produced by underrepresented and emerging voices.
  • Began holding accessible and affordable skill-building workshops focused on storytelling with experts at the top of their field.
  • Built a warm community of patrons, readers, and contributors interested in human rights storytelling.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Your monthly contributions will help our short and long term goals of hiring permanent staff, funding the publishing process of future print issues, and paying our hard-working contributors.

BE A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Pitches, inquiries, ideas, or project drafts can be sent from anyone, anywhere, and at any time, to [email protected] or [email protected] Please make sure you read the submission guidelines before sending us a pitch or first draft!
