About The Legal Geeks with Josh Gilliland

Thank you for visiting our Patreon page to support our blog and podcast The Legal Geeks. We have fun reviewing legal issues in pop culture, comics, and science fiction.

We have had panels at San Diego Comic Con, WonderCon, San Francisco Comic Con, and numerous Nerd Nites across California.

And yes, we are the lawyers who organized the Court Martial of Poe Dameron at San Diego Comic Con.

We got a lot of good press from that mock trial, but we have done a lot more.

Building upon our experience with the Poe Dameron Court Martial, we had a Summary Judgment Hearing with video depositions in our [fictional] case of Stormtroopers suing for Defective Body Armor. The issue was would those Troopers find justice or keep getting the short end of the stick.

Our videos, posts, and podcasts, are for fun and to help educate people about the law while geeking out over our favorite shows, comics, and movies. The goal of our Patreon is to connect more with our fans and help cover costs for hosting our blog, podcast, materials for demonstrative exhibits (images for the blog), and travel costs.

We also have organized mock trials at San Diego Comic Fest where law students get to cut their teeth in a very different mock trial setting. We have held the Mock Trial of the Winter Soldier, Whether the President Court Hunt Mutants with Sentinels, A Competency Hearing for Frankenstein's Creature, and a Two Face Civil Rights Mock Trial. These mock trials are always a ton of fun. It is very rewarding to work with law students and help them build their trial advocacy skills.

Blogging and podcasting has been a great adventure where I have met amazing lawyers who are now good friends. My goal is to increase interaction with fans by using live-streaming, video commentaries, and interactive polls here to move to another level of geekdom.

Thank you for reading and hope you can join us.
