Hello! I'm the host and producer of The Lonely Hour, a podcast about loneliness–but it’s not a bummer. As one listener wrote to me recently, "The way the subject is treated on your podcast is cathartic. There is a certain degree of freedom that comes with acceptance of loneliness as a part of life. Hopefully one day it will be de-stigmatized so we might address it more effectively as a society, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon. So, in the meantime, please keep making these podcasts." I hope to do just that.
If you don't already subscribe to the show, you can do so on iTunes, Stitcher, SoundCloud, GooglePlay, Spotify, or PodBean. And please visit the show's website at thelonleyhour.com if you want to learn more. I imagine, though, that you're here because you're already a fan of the show and, like the listener above, you want to see The Lonely Hour live on.
Some behind-the-scenes intel: I do the research, conduct the interviews, and edit and voice the episodes, but the reason the show sounds so good has everything to do with my audio producer, Chris McLeod. Only someone who is as immersed in the podcast universe as Chris is (he also produces Masters of Scale, hosted by legendary Silicon Valley investor Reid Hoffman) can make The Lonely Hour so cinematic. I want to keep him! Then there's the look of The Lonely Hour, which is all Payton Cosell Turner's doing. The co-founder of design studio Flat Vernacular and an illustrator, Payton is supremely talented (she made everything you see on this page) and I'm very lucky to have her vision applied to this show. While The Lonely Hour is a passion project for me, both Chris and Payton need to be paid for their work, and that's why I've set up this Patreon. Please help me help them keep the show going!
Thank you for your generosity, and for believing in this project. And, as always, enjoy your...self.
