The Manimals are making our third full length album,
and we need your help.
This is not a fundraising campaign in the traditional sense. This is a community, a club, a collaboration. We’re not trying to make a specific amount of money- though any dollars you give will go towards our recording and release- we quite literally want your help in creating our next project. Just like the Ouija board only works when a group of hands is on the planchette, we believe that we can only summon this specific magic if you’re all involved.

If you don’t know us yet, we’re a band of incorrigible scamps from NYC with a penchant for glitter and loud “WOAH-OH” choruses.
Haley, Jayne, The Bear, The Dick, and Matty O make silly, spooky, totally aggro, weirdly emotional glam/pop-punk/nerdy party rock together. Our songs are about fun, feelings, and fucking up. We just want to save the day with rock n roll and buy you a whiskey shot. In 2016, we released an album called SEVEN that was based on A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones (it was also our first time messing around with Patreon). The whole thing was a pretty rad experience: we got to make tons of art that deepened the project, people from all over the place were able to find us and enjoy the record, we got to play at fan conventions, and we made so, so many friends. There was a level of engagement that felt so different from anything else, because our little record got to live inside these worlds that already existed- the one with Westeros and the dragons, sure- but also the fandom world, full of brilliantly clever and interesting fellow nerds who all felt inspired by this same source material.

Just as SEVEN used our favorite characters to talk about universal themes, Multiverse uses fantastical and fictional tropes and imagery as metaphors for an emotional and spiritual journey. The big difference is, there isn’t an existing property to anchor it, no canon, no novels.

But what if we could reverse engineer it?
What if we built the universe around the record?

This is an album about real magic, doorways and seams, parallel worlds, and how to access them. Each song is its own space, thematically and sonically, and the adventure through each is the story of Multiverse. We’re asking you, our friends and fans, to be the mapmakers and the designers of this fictional space. What do you like to do? We want some. Costumes, drawings, poetry, photos, stupid memes, strange stories! Your wild and weird imaginations will shape and influence our finished product in a real, tangible way... and ultimately we will assemble an anthology of all of the art you contribute.
✨ Time travel confirmed: you will have written the book upon which Multiverse is based. ✨

No, we don’t think anyone has done anything quite like this before, but we’ll help to guide this epic adventure as needed. At the beginning of each month, you’ll receive a special patrons-only package containing lyrics, a letter from Haley, a demo that no one from the outside world will ever hear, mood boards, inspiration playlists, and more. We’ll all go play in a private group where you can share anything you come up with. Throughout, you’ll also get vlogs and updates from the band, including all the miscellaneous art we want to add to the worldbuilding efforts ourselves. When the next month begins, we’ll collectively tear through the fabric of time and space to venture on to the next universe we’d like to explore. Don't like to make stuff or feel sort of intimidated about the idea? That's cool, you can still be a "regular patron" and lurk around for as long as you like. But we would bet you anything that you'll end up being an invaluable asset to the journey.

Tiers
The Worldbuilders
$1 or more per month
Every month, you'll receive demos, annotated lyrics, letters, vlogs, mood boards, inspiration playlists, and more. Join in as we make communal art together and design these fantasy worlds. Your contributions and conversations will help shape our album, and as many as possible will be included in the Multiverse Anthology. This is part fan club, part collaborative project, part imagination party palace. Once we get there, you'll receive digital versions of whatever we make (i.e. the album, the Anthology).
The Seamrippers
$20 or more per month
You are a member of the Worldbuilders fan club/art-making community no matter how much you give. But if you'd like to give $20 per month or more, you will also receive physical versions of whatever we make (i.e. the album, the Anthology, merch). We'll also be doing a few small-group google hangouts, and Seamrippers will be invited to those.
