$2 Patrons help shape the show. They vote for segments, ask questions that appear on air, and suggest sub-topics. These backers get opportunities to shape the show’s content, suggesting and curating many of the episode segments.
The Hard Stuff
$4 Patrons receive access to both of our monthly mini-episodes: Hot Takes on Ice (our hard alcohol review episode where we cover things that didn't fit into the main podcast) and Jury of Our Beers (our bomber beer review and fan debate show).
About The Mixed Six
The Mixed Six is a variety podcast structured around beer reviews. For every 10-15 minute segment, we start with a quick beer review. From there, we launch into a wide variety of topics: anything ranging from movies, board games, politics, sports, philosophy, etc.
The more "lubricated" the hosts get, the headier the topics become. Basically, while Spence and Caleb share a mixed six of beers, the listeners get a sampler of six bar conversations. Don't like a segment? Skip to the next one. We'll have probably forgotten what we were talking about by then anyway...
By the way, here's an updated list of every beer we've tried so far.
Who Are You?
Hi! I'm Caleb. I'm a tabletop game designer and long-time contributor to Role-playing Public Radio family of podcasts. Spencer is a Doctor of Communications and renaissance man in residence. Our producer, Producer Ross, is a long-time podcaster, Patreon creator, and RPG designer.
I've worked with Ross for years, and Spencer and I were roommates as far back as college. I love podcasting, and I've been wanting to expand beyond the subject matter of gaming for some time now. Considering there's no place I'd rather be than chatting with these guys over a beer anyway, the idea for The Mixed Six seemed like a no-brainer
But sadly, each of us is working at least two jobs at any given time, which doesn't leave much time to do the work of podcasting.
Where Do I Come In?
We need Patreon's help to make recording episodes a sustainable time investment. Funding makes producing The Mixed Six sustainable in the long term and protects regular recording time from other, less-cool demands on our time. Funds will pay for web hosting, recording equipment, editing work, commissioned artwork/logos, and the dozen or so other costs associated with regular podcasting.
Also, beer. We're going to spend the money on beer.
What Do I Get Out Of It?
Patrons at all levels get a variety of ways to influence the content of the show. Backers also get a wider variety of content. . We also offer blog posts and mini-sodes on topics that don't fit into the regular episodes.
If people are interested in hearing more, we're excited to record more. Our milestones add patron-only episodes into the mix, and it would be awesome if we could hit a point where we can produce weekly episodes.
The Mixed Six is a fun project we really believe in. I've been planning it for years now. There's no one I'd rather talk to than my witty sparring partner Spencer. And then there's Producer Ross, keeping the drunks in check with over a decade of podcasting and crowdfunding experience. It'll be a great show. I hope you can help us get it off the ground and shape its contents.
