About Sacil Armstrong
Hey y’all!
I have stood up for social justice since I was a teen, if not earlier. What's happening today is more in-your-face for people who haven't been involved in social justice, but it's not new. What is new is the number of people seeing what's happening and willing to stand up.
But fighting is not all about bringing the fire. That's the part they show on TV and social media. But what makes that fire sustainable is self-care, being able to find your calm in the chaos. Because the chaos is ALWAYS there.
Knowing when to pause, how to care for yourself, what type of care you need at the moment. That's what keeps you going because we can't run on fumes and anger forever. It's toxic. Knowing how to shut that shit down, breathe properly, and call on love to keep us going is what sustains a movement.
This space is to help us all do that. Take a belly breath. Lower our blood pressure. Know that if we step away to sleep, eat a good meal, laugh at a comedy, it's okay. The fight will still be there. And we'll be more effective if we take a break.
This is all about creating equity and emotional balance. It's about undoing our social training so we can create the capacity to love ourselves and heal your communities. I hope you’ll join me!
