STORIES WORTH TELLING

I was talking to a friend recently about how unfortunate it is that so many incredible stories go untold. I think this happens for two reasons:
1) The person who holds - or lives - the story, is so familiar with it that they don't see the value and impact that might come from telling it.
2) Telling stories through film is expensive and time consuming. Some of the best stories go untold simply because it doesn't make financial sense to tell them.

I, for one, have always believed that a good story is worth telling, even if it costs money rather than making money. I have done that more times than my wife and children would probably like. BUT, we live in a unique time, where that might not have to be the case. Imagine the stories that could be told if a community of individuals gathered and gave to make sure it happens. No corporate voice, no ad influence. Just carefully unearthing the beautiful narratives nestled in our world.

BECOME A PATRON

THAT'S WHERE YOU COME IN! No matter what, I will continue to invest my own time and money into the practice of shining a light on good stories. But if a community rose up to buoy that effort, how incredible would that be!? If you choose to contribute, you'll be an integral part in bringing these films to life, AND you'll get access to great content, not available anywhere else.

As a Patron, you'll receive access to exclusive content that accompanies each film release - only available on Patreon. Behind the scenes content, making-of videos, audio files of live performance videos, additional interview content, Q&A, etc. My hope is that some of the stories we tell will eventually be brought to the table by Patrons!

Thanks so much for joining this community!

HELPFUL INFO

  • When you give, you will be pledging a dollar amount "per creation", BUT you will also be asked to set a monthly limit on how much you would like to give. For example, If you want to give $50 per video, but not more than once per month, you can set that limit. I encourage you to do this! The last thing I want to do is feel that you are giving more than you thought you signed up for.
  • If I don't post in a given month, you don't get charged.
  • The charge on your credit/debit card happens at the end/beginning of the month. So if a project is released during a given month, you will not see a charge until the end of the month. You can cancel at any time. There's no minimum commitment.
  • Full disclosure: I also do hired video work vocationally. My promise to you is that I will never "double dip". If a business hires me to tell a story, I will not post it here as a paid project. The work you will be supporting as a Patron is passion work. Documentary shorts, the Thread Sessions series, the intersection of film and music, etc., No double dipping!
Tiers
Audience
$1 or more per creation
Without an audience, a film falls flat. Think of this as a $1 dollar theater. You value the films we create enough to pay a buck to watch 'em. We're so thankful for you!

*Popcorn sold separately

** PLEASE NOTE: With all rewards levels, you have the opportunity to set a monthly limit if I were to post more than one film in a month. I encourage you to do so!
Filmophile
$10 or more per creation
You know and love good movies, and you want more to be made. You don't want to just watch, you want to discuss and dig deeper. You care about "how?" and "why?" and as a patron at the Filmophile level, you'll have access to the process through Behind the Scenes and "Making Of" content!
Crew
$25 or more per creation
Making great films takes a ton of help during the production. Though you won't see the crew as a viewer, they are the ones who work tirelessly to help bring a film to life. Thank you, crew!
Best Boy/Girl
$50 or more per creation
"Best Boy" is a real film credit - honest! On set the Best Boy/Girl acts as a foreman for the electric or rigging department. They hire and coordinate their respective crew. You are super important. The film doesn't happen without you!
Gaffer
$100 or more per creation
No, not gaffe, GAFFER! The gaffer is the head electrician on a film set. These geniuses supply the power that runs everything on set. Thank you, gaffer, for running power to this vision.
Key Grip
$250 or more per creation
The Key Grip is in charge of making sure the right tools get to the set. Vehicles, dollies, lights, rigging - all the important stuff. The production, quite literally, doesn't start without you. Thank you, Key Grip, without you, I'm just a guy standing around waiting.
Associate Producer
$500 or more per creation
First of all, it blows me away that you would consider this. At the Associate Producer level, your name will be listed in the credits of any film we produce (as long as you remain a Patron). You are incredible, and the audience should see your name attached to what we create.
Executive Producer
$1,000 or more per creation
Holy moly - you rock! An executive producer is crucial to providing the funding that helps a film come to life. You are generous, you believe that the untold stories out there need to be told, even at great cost to you. I'm humbled and honored. You'll be listed in the credits of every film we produce. Thank you!
Goals
5 of 50 patrons
50 Patrons!? Holy moly, y'all are incredible. I'll throw a party at my studio in Lancaster, PA. Beverages on me.
