About

There hasn't been a day since I was about four years old when I haven't been working on some form of a story. As soon as I could hold a pen I was telling stories with both words and pictures; as soon as I could hold a plectrum and fret a guitar I was singing stories. I think story construction, in any form is probably as essential to me as breathing.

The Augury. A vast rig lurking in the deep ocean. Only one thing is known about it for certain: it rarely leaves survivors. There are a few rumours circulating the islands; descriptions pieced together from fleeing pilots in shattered subs. It's almost entirely black, it doesn't appear on sonar, its crew are silent and they attack without demands.

It's almost entirely black but for three white words emblazoned on its broadsides: PAY YOUR DUES.

Most of the people who know The Augury's true history are dead or missing. The rest are scattered around the world and speak little more than whispers from the depths. Two people who know more than most are Sub Captain Archard Ochoa and his First Lieutenant Charlotte 'Lott' Hagedus. Together they run The Skillet Hussars, a rag-tag private military company hired to protect the waters surrounding the nation-city of Freeholt.

Weaving amongst flooded skyscrapers, The Skillet Hussars face threats from pirates, mercenaries and bounty-hunters on a daily basis. The Augury is heading for Freeholt however and the past that Archard and Lott were trying to forget is about to catch them once again. Very soon they discover that not only is there danger in the shadows of the sea, but the shadows in the city are stretching closer by the day.

TideBreakers is a novella-series and a card-game that I'm writing, illustrating and designing single-handedly. Whilst I love every minute of the project, it would be absolutely amazing if you could support me in any small way, either by downloading the novellas, sharing the project with as many people as you think would enjoy it, or by selecting one of the fantastic reward options below. As well as access to exclusive game cards and components, patrons can receive profiles on aspects of the TideBreakers world, companion factsheets, and even appear as characters on game-cards and in the story!
I really would be forever grateful for whatever help you can offer.

Here are just some of the exciting things I'll be releasing in the coming months:

Follow the adventures of The Skillet Hussars' as they defend the seas of Freeholt. I'll be posting new episodes as soon as they're finished; I'm hoping that this can be every four or five weeks, but it may be a little longer than this depending on the episode. I want to make sure that everything is perfect before I release it to the world! Every episode is completely free to download from my Smashwords page and is available in a variety of formats - please leave a review!

Embark on your own TideBreakers adventure by building a crew and battling your friends! The game runs on the completely unique SymRoll and Routier page game systems which I designed myself and have rigorously tested. It's fast, fun and really easy to learn - download free samples of the game and check out the rule-sheets here. New downloads of game cards and Routier Pages will be available with every novella episode; check out the rewards below.

It's still only the start of my Patreon journey, but I've had the chance to meet some amazing and talented people. Join me as I talk with some of the most inspirational people and learn all about their own creative adventures.

I can't stop writing stories! Every month, I take a single idea and build it into a full story, week-by-week. It can lead to some fascinating ideas! Visit my blog to explore brand new stories with me, from their very first inception to a fully realised plan.

Rewards will be released alongside every novella episode; I'm aiming for it to be around every six weeks or so.
