  About Tim Wilmot

Hello, I am Tim Wilmot, a watercolor artist based in the UK. I have published many full length watercolor tutorials up on my YouTube Channel since 2015 and now want to compliment that with higher value content on the Patreon platform that is not possible on YouTube.

So if you want to paint loose and fast, please support me on our journey together.

Thanks everyone for watching my videos and taking the time to give me feedback and all your lovely comments.  These videos of free to watch, but they are not free to make.  I have to pay for software and technology to continually make better quality videos.  So please support me with a small payment via Patreon and in return I will give something back to you like a critique.  See my different levels of support to see which is best for you.

  How does Patreon work?

Very simple.  You pledge a small amount of money (securely, via this Patreon system) per video or creation I post.  Depending on what 'tier' you sign up for, I will then give a critique back to you.  You control how much you want to pledge and you can alter or stop your payment at any time.

  What's in it for me?

What do you get out of it?  Good question.  Think of it as joining my little club of watercolour artists (WHATEVER level you are!).  I want to share my journey and content with you that may be difficult in other ways.  I want to help you get more out of your watercolour painting with feedback (e.g. you can send me your paintings for a critique from me), answering your questions, sharing my knowledge and hints & tips!

  Comments from subscribers

Here are some lovely comments from subscribers.  Keep them coming, they are a great encouragement for me!

Please make a pledge with this small payment to help support my efforts to publish full length watercolour videos at least once a month.  Your help will go towards keeping all the technology going.  And I will be happy to share high res images of the completed paintings!  Paintings will be made available normally via a post on this Patreon platform.

Follow my video (it will most likely be a recent video I have published on my YouTube Channel), download the source photo for the painting (plus you get a high res image of my completed painting), paint the scene yourself, take a photo of your picture, post your results (or email it to me) and get my critique in return with some extra hints and tips!

In detail, the process is:

1) Watch the video I reference

2) Download the source photo and hi res image of my painting

3) Paint the scene yourself (hopefully over the next few weeks)

4) Take a picture of your painting

5) Post the photo of your painting on Patreon or email the photo to me.  Please give me some background information on your painting. What size is it? What paper did you use? What brushes did you use? What challenges did you have?

6) Please note that I am not able to give you your critique until your payment has been cleared by the Patreon system. This is usually just after the 1st of the following month of your pledge. Thanks for your understanding.

7) Please only submit one painting.  Only one critique will be given.

Thank you for your support and happy painting!

Let's talk!  I mean really talk.  No emails back and forth.

Do you want to have your work critiqued by me via a one-to-one call?  Want someone to review your paintings and make recommendations back to you? No problem.  I am happy to offer a critique service, online.  I would be able to make comments in the following areas on the painting of your choice or the current Painting Project I have set...

  1. Subject choice - How good was the subject you chose?  Was it suitable for watercolour?
  2. Composition - How did you go about what to include in the painting and the position of main elements.
  3. Drawing skills.  What are your drawing skills like in the outline sketch
  4. Tone and Colour
  5. What's the focal point?
  6. Style.  What style are you aiming for
    or Loose.....Tight....Impressionistic?
  7. Watercolour techniques.  What techniques have you chosen to use?  What's your wash like?  Other techniques - wet in wet, lost and found, dry brush strokes, body paint (the thick stuff!).
  8. Brush strokes.  How confident do the brush strokes look like?
  9. Did you achieve your objectives and what you set out to do?
  10. What were the best bits and why (in my opinion)?
  11. What needs to be improved on (in my opinion)?
  12. Action plan for the next painting - assuming you want to do something similar.

I will also arrange a Skype/GotoMeeting or online call with you to review your painting at a time to suit you (call duration about 20-30 minutes).  We will share our screens.  You do not need a Webcam!  And....AND.....I can record the call so you can play back at your leisure!

What I need from you for this service is...

  1. Email me a photo of your painting if it is a different subject from the one I have set (as high res as you can) or share with me a link (a URL link to the painting).
  2. What were you trying to achieve?
  3. The size of your painting
  4. Type of paper used
  5. Brushes you used (type, hair type, manufacturer)
  6. What manufacturer of paint did you use?  Are they Pan or Tube colours?
  7. What colours are in your palette?
  8. Time taken for the painting, start to finish.  Did you do it all in one go?
  9. Was it a 'Plein Air' or from a photo or your imagination?
  10. What things especially do you want me to review about the painting (everything or just certain things)?

Much of this we can discuss on the call.  If you need any more information about this service, please contact me.

Once again, you do not need a webcam.  You just need connection to the internet and it will even work on a smartphone/tablet.  I will organise all the technology.  You just tell me the convenient time for the call.

Goals
$246 of $1,000 per creation
When I reach $1000 per creation, I'm going to release a new painting video (full length) just for my Patrons!  It won't be up on YouTube.
