About

Grew up on a farm, wandered into the city, took a stroll to the coast, dabbled in video games for a decade, found a wife, three dogs, a cat, four ducks and had a son.  Work hard at my day job and even harder moonlighting as a comic artist/writer.

Hello I am Corey Messer or better known by my pen name as TiredOrangeCat. In 2006 I started a web graphic novel called Plush and Blood: The Unstuffed. The story revolved around the fall of a utopian society run by a subtle totalitarian government in a world populated entirely by stuffed animals. Unlike most web comics out there, this story had an ending planned well in advance.  This made it unique in that it was an actual story, complete with plot/character arcs that ended and not something that was wrung to death in an effort to make it last forever.  The Unstuffed ran for four years, updating twice a week, totaling 450 pages. The comic started with a completed script and a simple style.  The style took on a life of its own and evolved into a sophisticated and consistent look.  I wrote, drew, colored, and maintained the comic's website and its sister forum. During those four years life happens with its ups and downs, yet I never missed an update. I found a loyal and excited fan base that turned into a giant family of sorts. The fans were very excited and always there on the forum where they discussed the comic in detail with each other.  They would interpolate, and expand on ideas that I had only hinted at, often in ways I had not thought of.  They were always engaged and wondering what would happen next.  I kept them on their toes for the entire four year run and cemented a dedicated fan base. They waited patiently for an entire year as I wrote the second story in the Plush and Blood universe titled, Memory's Threads.  The script itself is 440 pages long and will be an estimated 1200 comic pages in length.
Memory's Threads has now been running since June 1st 2012.  With two years and change under its belt I have already posted over 400 pages with the same dedication seen with the Unstuffed.  Having never missed an update and maintaining a thick buffer of finished pages I set up a unique system for the fans to gain further access to more updates. With the ending of The Unstuffed and the fall of the Broken Circle, there is an underlying theme within Memory's Threads to Renew the Circle, to bring back balance to the world.  The Broken Circle enslaved the world without it knowing, the Renewed Circle puts the power back in the hands of the Plush (fans ;) ).  Renewing the Circle aka purchasing an update. The fans have already expanded the twice a week update schedule to three and are working on the fourth through Patreon. All it takes is a dollar to move Plush and Blood one step closer to an additional day of updates.  I encourage fans to work together to support the things they love.

For those that have not read Plush and Blood: The Unstuffed, they will not be left out.  Memory's Threads works in the basic details needed to follow along.  This allows for a much greater audience and also pulls this new audience into reading The Unstuffed.  For those that have read The Unstuffed this will be a search for answers and hidden meanings.  They will be enthralled and submerged in its depths.

The plot for Plush and Blood: Memory's Threads follows Katt (one of the main protagonists of The Unstuffed) as she journeys through the cataclysmic aftermath of The Unstuffed.  The premise revolves around second chances and what makes us, us. The world has been all but devastated, laid flat by the events of The Unstuffed. With no memories and no world to ask who she was, Katt searches for answers in a society trying to pull itself back together.  Memory's Threads explores the questions, Is it our past experience that makes up who we are?  Is it what we do here and now that makes up who we are?  Is it our intentions?  Who are we?  While the people struggle to bring civilization back to a land wrecked by cataclysm the question of God arises.   It is a brutal, dark, philosophical journey.
I am chasing my dream right now. I have a third story penned after Memory's Threads titled Patchwork Lives.  It will deal with the rise of the Plush and what they have learned from their past.  I love to write and tell a story that engages and entertains people.  Unique characters and original plots have had my readers knocking at my door asking for more.  Entertainment is not the only goal, I want to make people think about the world around them.  I try to bring points across that make them stop and look at reality and ask why.  I believe we have lost a lot of the conceptual nature of story to the glitz and glam.  It is time to bring it back.  My dream is in demand and I would like to supply everyone.

I produce this comic in free time I have between my day job, my family, and my responsibilities. While it makes enough to pay for its own hosting and maintenance I would like to see it make enough to pay the bills.  So I ask you dear reader, to look around at all the plagiarized and stolen intellectual properties, cliche and trope driven stories, and shallow Mary-sue riddled characters in the web comic world; I ask you dear reader would you rather be reading that, or something original, well structured, and enthralling such as Plush and Blood.  I know what my fans would say, they say it ever time they re-read my comic.  Support originality, stop giving your money to another franchise ripoff, or copied intellectual property. Support the storytellers, support me.

To close, this is as near a sure thing as you can get. I do not need to make constant promises that the comic will continue to update or that I will do my job until the end.  I have already established my fortitude, dedication, and motivation with the completion of The Unstuffed.  Memory's Threads will run to completion without failure.

Thank you,

-Corey "TiredOrangeCat" Messer
