I'm a Maker, I love making things. I've spent 20 years making software, but recently discovered I love making hardware too. I love creating something of value or fun and placing it into people's hands to use and enjoy.

But ... that doesn't pay the bills. I do a lot of pro-bono work (I'm a qualified schoolteacher, and often teach programming lessons at day-long events, or in schools), and this leaves me feeling guilty at all my useable-but-unpolished projects that I keep to myself because I lack the time / money to finish them. Then sooner or later I take time off (unpaid) to work on them, and end up struggling to pay the rent. Back to work, no more side-projects, and the cycle begins again - but very little gets launched.

So. If you like my previous work - please donate, and enable me to publish this stuff! Things you might have found useful already:

  • my articles on ECS (Entity Component Systems), both here and on my blog (as far back as 2007)
  • my articles on game-design at http://growthofages.com
  • my StackOverflow questions (26,000 rep for solving iOS/Xcode bugs, under the account "adam")
  • my code snippets and libraries for Unity3D
Tiers
Inspiration and knowledge-sharing
$1 or more per month
 - behind-the-scenes articles on new projects, latest builds, bugs I've found or worked around in libraries/game-engines/etc, coding processes I use, etc.

 - NB: this is the equivalent of the old "ECS articles" tier, but will be much less often than the other tiers.

Unity3D tools, assets, libraries
$5 or more per month
 - get all my Unity assets for free (currently worth $80/year)

 - support me in creating more assets (currently: procedural, AAA river editor)

 - priority support (request new features, private builds/patches) for all Unity assets

 - monthly builds/updates for most Unity packages

Cutting-edge games and advanced programming/editing apps
$10 or more per month
(all the above, plus...)

- Your money pays for my current free/non-commercial projects: free teaching-software for programmers, a Civilization 4/5/6 clone, a VR open-world Roguelike

 - Monthly updates and/or progress reports of all in-dev games and tools

Source code for Unity3D tools/libs/etc
$25 or more per month
(all the above, plus...)

 - source-repository access to my Unity assets. (NB: this is currently the only way to get source access, all my assets are distributed binary-only!)
