Andrew Kepple is creating
another TF2 Flash animation
5 years ago I made a TF2 animation and people liked it. Time to make a follow-up.

Hipster Cred!
Reaching this goal would indicate that I should fuel more animations with Patreon support. As such, everyone who backed S&P2 will also get their name in the credits of the next Patreon-supported TmsT animation, for getting things off to such a great start when TmsT was still "underground". ;-) This is regardless of whether they support my next Patreon project, whatever it may be.

About
I like to make internet Flash animations, including the Team Fortress 2 spoof "Spy and Pyro" (2010), the (f)animutation "French Erotic Film" (2003), and Lemon Demon's "I've Got Some Falling To Do" music video (2004), to name some of the better-known ones. I also draw cartoons.

WHAT AND WHY
WHEN
Production started in November with redesigning the characters, and the animation really got going in December, when I had more spare time. As of launching this Patreon, a little over 2 minutes of footage has been completed. Although the entire running time hasn't been worked out yet, it's shaping up to be at least the same length as its predecessor, i.e. 5-6 minutes. With more than twice as much production time set aside this time, there's a pretty good chance of getting it done in time for February 14, and I'm on track so far. In March I'm leaving the world of freelance animation to join an animation studio, so this could be my last chance to make something of my own like this for a while.
Update: S&P2 was finished and released on AlbinoBlacksheep's Youtube channel a day early on February 13, then re-released on Feb 14 in HD, and on Newgrounds.
It turned out to be just a few seconds shy of 10 minutes in length, almost twice as long as S&P! I had a feeling "5-6 minutes" was a fairly conservative guess, but "9-10 minutes" would've seemed like an unrealistic goal (not that the length of the movie was a goal, though. I didn't plan how long it would end up being).
HOW
By either not sleeping for two months, or by saying no to any freelance work that comes my way during January to early February. Either strategy is pretty tough for me to do, but with your support I can continue with the latter much more easily and do a way better job of S&P2.

Update: Turns out I did both: Said no to freelance work AND didn't sleep for two months! The Patreon support was still necessary for keeping other work off my schedule, though.
WHATIF?
If S&P2 doesn't get released by the February 14 deadline, I will keep working on it in whatever spare time I have, to get it done ASAP. (As S&P1 showed, Valentine's Day is a good deadline to motivate me with, but true love is appropriate all year round. Awww.) If I don't release it, you aren't charged for anything. I get paid just as much for delivery by Valentine's Day 2015 as I would for delivery by Valentine's Day 2016 - unless of course you change or cancel your pledge by then, which you're free to do at any time until the final video has been delivered. That's the way Patreon works!
Update: Almost no major interruptions! Made it in time (with a day to spare)!
WHAT ELSE IS IN IT FOR ME?
Any amount you pledge on Patreon gets you a special mention in the ending credits. (There are other rewards too.) If you're after behind-the-scenes material and other previews, please follow the Spy & Pyro Tumblr blog or join the TmsT Facebook group, although you can do that without supporting my Patreon as well. (Yep, that stuff's free - just thought you might be interested! ^_~ )
Update: I'm starting working on the caricatures now (April). March was a bit of a write-off, as I was relocating to the other side of the world.
SO
Let's make this wacky fan-video (continue to) happen! (:

"Spy & Pyro" is a Flash-animated Team Fortress 2 fan-movie that I made in the 24 days leading up to the thematically relevant Valentine's Day of 2010. Although I hadn't played TF2 at the time (omg what a poser), I enjoyed the TF2 GMod videos and fan comics and wanted to join in the fun, with a bit of classical animation comedy. Spy & Pyro, an absurd love story surrounding the titular characters was well received both by the fans and by the people at Valve who'd worked on TF2. It is still the most successful animation I've made in recent years, with millions of youtube views to date and becoming a Valentine's Day fave of AlbinoBlacksheep and Newgrounds.
So how could I not make another TF2 video for Valentine's Day 2015, when I've had an idea for a spiritual successor to S&P brewing for a good while now? The character designs and art style have been improved, yet it's still very much in the spirit of the original, with physical comedy that draws heavily from both classical animation and GMod videos, "shipping" (that means fandom-based lovey-dovey stuff), and references aplenty to TF2 canon (i.e. things that Valve invented) and fanon (dank memes).WHEN
