About

Lately I’ve been exploring what it would look like to build a community built around unlearning racism. When my friend Gretchen compared white privilege to an addiction response I knew we had struck on a framework that might be viable.

It took a lifetime to learn the biases that we hold today. Being committed to sobriety in any sense is work that will never be completed, and yet we must do it for the safety and health of ourselves and our communities.

I want to foster a community that deals with unlearning racism in a holistic manner. At the same time I recognize I don’t currently possess all of the skill set necessary to do this work. I need to continue to educate myself as well as to be educated by those who have been doing this work for decades. I have a lot to learn and I wanna share it with you.

Data shows us that learning in small group actually increases comprehension and helps us retain information better than learning alone. Having a community and a coach increases your likelihood of success.

We cannot create a better world without sobering up. That’s why I created White Homework. As a student, learning is a space to mess up and try again. Failure is a necessary part of the process of learning. Achieving perfection on the first try doesn’t happen with complex skills.

I will never stop working for justice and I’d be honored to have you by my side. Will you join me?

Be sure to check out my White Homework page for resources, ideas, and actionable steps. Everything listed there is FREE.
