When Track 7 started, it was an outlet for three people who were disillusioned by the state of music journalism, and wanted to do something that felt authentic, honest, and to a standard we could be proud of. We had all worked in various roles at publications that rely on aspiring, inexperienced writers, but which had no quality control in place - no editing, no feedback, no way for new writers to develop their skills and avoid bad habits.

Our goal is to help writers produce the kind of pieces they’d like to read: substantial, high-quality features and in-depth, incisive reviews that do more than parrot the press release. We’ve been lucky enough to work with a lot of talented new writers who have honed their skills and gone on to bigger and better things. So that’s what we’re gonna keep doing.

We've been running Track 7 for the best part of two years and while we do this because we believe in it, it sucks that we haven't been able to pay our writers for their work. We don't run ads and paywalls aren't punk, so we've had no resources to do so. And, well....here we are.

We would love more than anything to be able to pay contributors for everything they write for us. If you dig what we do and would like us to do more of it, you can help make that happening by becoming a Track 7 patron.

We'll be adding more tiers and patron rewards in the near future, but for now we just wanted to make sure there was a way for supporters of the site to help us keep doing what we do.
