About Taylor R. Genovese
I'm an interdisciplinary science and technology studies (STS) Ph.D. student at Arizona State University who draws from the fields of anthropology (in which I hold a BA and an MA), history, religious studies, and political theory. My area of focus is on the ways that people imagine the future, particularly around the themes of space travel and immortality.
I believe that through a better understanding of how different societies imagine and enact the future, we can more effectively comprehend and change the political and economic systems that have (thus far) used the name of "technology" and "progress" to enact widespread inequality, environmental devastation, and alienation. My commitment to public, transparent, and equitably collaborative trans-disciplinary research reflects how I believe we should develop technology and space travel.
By becoming my patron, you are not only enabling me to carry out my research, you are also helping support my important extra-academic and activist work like: organizing and recruiting for No More Deaths/No Más Muertes, helping run the Footnotes blog, serving as the nonfiction editor for the literary magazine Barrio Beat, helping organize student labor, and more!
So I hope that you will become my patron in order to get some cool rewards and collaborate with me to make the world a better place!
