About

My goal is to research, preserve, and promote, authentic knowledge, skills, and training methods of Chinese martial arts, in a convoluted Chinese martial arts community.

I have been training in CMA since the age of 11 under my father. After a few years, I started traveling around China visiting various teachers. I have dabbled in almost all major systems found in China, both northern and southern, external and internal, for the past 25 years. Eventually, I settled on Taichi and Wuxing Tongbei, and decided to make them my only focus while I dropped everything else. As a result, I have indeed accumulated a decent amount of knowledge on various systems of Chinese martial arts (CMA).

I spend about 4 to 6 hours a day training strictly in accordance with the old ways, and I also spend 3 months out of the year in China, learning from my two masters. The reason for doing this isn't for money, fame, or any other selfish gain, but rather, it is because I want to see how deep the rabbit hole goes. I want to see what achieving a high level in CMA really means, what can really be achieved in the end, which parts of the tales of the old masters are real, which are misunderstood, and which are nonsense. For me, it’s not good enough to just listen to what others have to say. I want to walk the journey myself in order to verify what others have claimed.

CMA is dying, despite what outsiders may think or observe. Real masters with authentic high level knowledge are rare, and due to living a modern life style (aka 9 to 5 job, personal bonds, family, living expenses, etc.) it’s very hard for the current generation to put in enough time and effort into the arts, like the old ways demand, to see real results, and soon, when the older generations are gone, a massive portion of authentic CMA will be lost forever. One man of course is not enough to turn the tide, but all I can do is try my best to inherit my two masters’ skills and knowledge to the best of my ability, so that at the very least, my lineages will not end on my watch.

I do not believe in online tutorials, which is why I am not here to sell online training courses in any way. My videos are intended to be informative, explaining what authentic CMA should look like, so people out there can have a better picture of what they should expect when they do decide to join a school in their local city. It may be harsh to say this, and it will offend people, but the truth is, a good portion of CMA schools out there are teaching and promoting fake, incomplete, or incorrect knowledge, and I hope to arm potential practitioners with the correct knowledge so that they can tell an authentic teacher from a fraud.

Besides being informative, I will also be sharing my own personal progress, as well as my experiences on my own CMA training journey. If you find my videos helpful, or wish to take a look at a non-commercial practitioner's pursuit for authentic CMA, please join my journey and support my cause. Any support is very much appreciated.
