Rick Turoczy is creating connections in the Portland startup community
103

patrons

Some folks use their creativity to create great works of art, amazing literature, and timeless music. If I had my druthers, I'd use my creativity to write. But as luck would have it, my writing is awful. So I've chosen, instead, to use my creativity to help build community. Your patronage gives me more time and motivation to continue to do that community building.

For more than a decade, I've been writing about — and connecting dots in — the Portland startup community. But now — at a time when many of the motivations that inspired me to start Silicon Florist continue to be issues — I've decided that it's time to take that decade of experience and do more.

With your support, I'll be able to leverage my experience to provide even more value. And to engage our amazing community more effectively. And create more opportunities for valuable connections, both virtually and in real life.

I'm sincerely hoping you'll join me. So that you and I can make the Portland startup community even more collaborative and collegial.

So you're not really wanting to encourage me to continue doing stuff, but you're not really wanting me to stop either. It's cool. I'm indecisive too. I think.
Keep on keepin' on

If you've gotten some value out of the atrocious grammar and run-on headlines I've been composing for the past decade or you're simply looking to encourage me to continue writing about stuff, this is the level for you.
Helping you stay engaged in community
$25 or more per month
Maybe you've made it past the struggles of early stage. Maybe you've got the wherewithal to give a little bit more to help get this work done. And, most importantly, maybe you want to remain engaged in what's happening in the Portland startup community — even though your day-to-day focus makes that difficult at times. Support at this level and I'll make sure to keep you in the loop. With special updates for folks like you.
Let's meet up every month
$100 or more per month
Introversion aside, I do some of my best work one-on-one, face-to-face (and apparently with hyphenated adjectives). Become a patron at this level and I'll carve out time in my schedule for a monthly 30-minute meeting with beverages of your choice for us to get together and compare notes. (You'll also receive the monthly recap.)

Outside of Portland? No worries. We can make it a call.  But we should still have beverages.

Kicking in as a corporation
$250 or more per month
Per the request of the community… If you feel like your entire company is getting some value out of the work I'm doing, here's an opportunity for your company to be a patron. (Includes the monthly recap I'll be providing to the $25 level. And the monthly meeting should you so desire.)
Looking for deal flow
$500 or more per month
It's a poorly held secret that every investor in the Portland startup ecosystem sees every single deal. Local FOMO? Nonexistent. But what if you're outside of the Portland startup community and you need a little insight? Well, I'd love to help. Because it benefits both our startups and you. And maybe creates a little more FOMO for the local investment community. So if you choose to support me at this level, you'll get both a monthly recap of what's happening in the community plus a list of companies seeking funding that may interesting to you and your firm. (Includes both the monthly recap and the 30-minute monthly meeting.)
Goals
103 of 250 patrons
I'm all about creating connections in our community. The more connected we are, the better. When we reach 250 patrons, I'd love to try to gather all of my amazing patrons together, again. But this time, I'll do a bunch of homework on each of the attendees so that we can make the gathering less a game of chance and more about intentional and meaningful connections among folks. So less happy hour. More connect-a-thon. With beverages. And snacks.
