Chad Mazzola is creating the definitive guide to open-source type

I launched the first version of Beautiful Web Type seven years ago. The response was far beyond my expectations, especially for a project that I did over the course of a few weekends. Unfortunately, the various distractions of work and life meant I wasn't able to take the project much further.

Until now.

I have launched a completely re-thought and re-designed version of the site that greatly expands on the original. I am now focused on growing the site into the definitive guide to open-source typefaces and web type technology.

Since the original site launched there has been an explosion of typefaces designed for digital usage. I am sifting through the numerous open-source typefaces now available (whether on Google Fonts or elsewhere) and highlighting the best. Each typeface will have an in-depth page showing the details of the typeface, from OpenType features to special characters, so you can make an informed decision about which typefaces to use in your projects.

My goal is to have this site become a resource you will visit time and time again. By becoming a supporter of this project you will enable me to bring attention to the very best open-source typefaces and show exactly how to make the most of them on the web, in apps, and other digital contexts.
