Um...my name is Ashley...and I'm me. Myself. I mean, a creator...a designer? This went so much better when I planned it out in the shower.

Ok let me try again, my name is Ashley and I'm pretty socially awkward. Ok no. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm new at this.

I...am a graphic designer...and thereby an artist. A creator. Most of the artistic world would probably scoff at me for having the audacity to consider myself among the 'artistic' ranks. Or rather it feels like it. But graphic design is, at the moment, my preferred media.

My design programs (Photoshop and Illustrator) are the place where I get lost. They're the place I go for escape. And my outlet is usually functional design...you know, Facebook covers, banners for other sites, web design, logo work, typography.

I've been designing for over 10 years now, all passionately self taught. I was creative, exploratory, and inventive from a very young age. My growth in design has come from a mix of avidly researching lessons and classes in any place I could find them and simply opening the program and just playing with settings randomly.

I've heard from I do great work. I get lots of compliments and oohs and ahs. I've even been paid for it before.

Unfortunately, I get nervous at the idea of charging for my work. I've turned jobs down because it overwhelms me and I'm not really sure why.

And that's why I've created this Patreon page and started Until Ever After

It's an opportunity to continue working for free while I work towards getting myself adequately equipped to start a career doing what I love. It's me pushing past the barrier that holds me back.

'Until Ever After' was 'born' as an in-between for my dream. It's working to build my confidence and maybe if I'm lucky, receive some support from those who want to help me work towards doing something with my creativity.

And as a second layer, 'Until Ever After' stands for and pushes towards my bigger personal goal of the change I hope to someday make in the world. They say change starts with yourself, and that's exactly where I'm starting. My dream life includes simply creating for and with others, but my bigger picture dream has always been to one day play a role in pushing others forward as well.

In fact, for a long time, my goal to help others was what kept me away from design.

I'd let myself become convinced that I didn't have time to design because I had to do something bigger. I had to focus on figuring out how I could work a job that was 'more worthwhile'. I had let myself become convinced that if I started designing I might stray from making a real impact. I'd let myself become convinced that computer design didn't matter.  That there was simply no room for me to do what I actually wanted to do if I wanted to count

Somehow, I'd concluded that the only way for me to achieve anything worthwhile...was to be conventional.  Unfortunately, anyone who's met me knows I couldn't be more...unconventional. And every time I did somehow manage to get closer to this conventional lifestyle I needed to have to be 'successful'...I've come to learn...I found myself very unhappy...and how successful then would I really be at all at my goal of helping others be happy if I was doing a pretty awful job at it myself.

And then, when I finally started giving in to what I really wanted to do, I felt like I was being unrealistic to want to pursue happiness. And selfish. Every time I turned around, I found a reason why I shouldn't pursue a life that would make me happy.

'Until Ever After' is about not only me working to do what I love, design, but also towards my greater dream of playing a role in the lives of others in pushing them to believe in their own capacity and potential. It's about believing in very real happiness and fulfillment enough to take the steps needed to get there and not let self-doubts get in the way.

As I pursue my own dreams, I truly hope to use this project to nourish and develop my creativity so that I can start doing more to support others looking to find their place in the world.

tl;dr version: I do graphic design and I dream of doing it full time and developing it..please support me if you would so I don't go hungry. k thanks.  [For those who don't know what 'tl;dr' means, tl;dr means 'too long, didn't read' and it's for those who aren't interested in reading the details.]

I'll develop a nice and decent quality website for you. It will be a relatively simple site, but it will be one you'll certainly be satisfied with. (Please note: I'm still working on my website development skills and my knowledge is somewhat limited, but I can definitely create a really nice site for most people. My limitations currently have to do  with heavy database information integration and in-site search. Otherwise, I'm pretty okay with development and it's something I consistently work to grow in as well.)

(This is for an overall reward mark)  If I hit $2000 monthly, I'll guarantee a bigger selection exclusive content available only to my Patreon contributors. I'll keep a post open for everyone to chime in on what they'd like to see released and use it when developing the free content. (In addition to the single exclusive piece released exclusively regardless of monthly goal being reached.

(Another overall reward here.) Well, first off, if I get this much I'll probably cry because I'm a little bit sensitive and it would most likely overwhelm me. But after I finish crying, I'll physically send out a set of printables (created by me) to every contributor. (Please note, there may be some turnaround time on these because at the moment I'll be outsourcing my post press and printing so I'll be a bit at their mercy. But I'll do everything I can to send them out as quickly as possible. As I mentioned in the previous rewards, I'd be extremely interested in feedback from contributors on what kind of printables they'd like to receive.
Goals
$0 of $1,000 per month
If I feel like I'm getting support and interest, I may start keeping a blog. I can't pretend to know what the focus of the blog would be, I can only promise to start a blog for those who are interested in seeing where that would lead.
