About The US Autism Association

Autism is probably present in your life.

I know, that's a bold statement.

But according to the CDC, 1 in 54 people is on the autism spectrum.

That means that, most likely, autism is present in your family, your friend group, your school, your house of worship, your neighborhood, your coworkers, your students, your patients, your clients, maybe even yourself .... and if no one in your circle is on the spectrum, you will probably meet someone soon who is!

This is why the work of teaching everyone about autism is so important. It's time to create a world in which this misunderstood population can come out of the shadows of stigmatization. Each person on the autism spectrum should be appreciated for who they are: one of many vibrant, valuable threads woven into the beautiful, complex tapestry of neuro-diversity that is humanity.

That is why we are here.

US Autism Association is a d/b/a of Different Minded Renaissance, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses, among other things, on creating, curating, and distributing engaging educational materials about autism and the autism community. Over the past 25 years, esteemed teams of doctors, educators, and leaders in autism research (some of whom are on the autism spectrum) have contributed a wealth of invaluable materials, through our resources or the resources of our predecessor corporation. Before COVID-19 changed the world, our predecessor organization specialized in offering educational conferences across the United States, where members of the autism community could meet each other, form connections and friendships, and listen to presentations from experts, making the most current information on a wide range of autism-related topics accessible to audience members. These days, as we recover from the pandemic and carry the torch forward, we do not want to stop sharing our materials and helping people understand their children, friends, students, patients, and themselves.

As we shift our focus toward making more of our materials available online, we have decided to start a Patreon account. We want to make our resources available in as many places as possible; we will be able to share certain ones for free, just like we do on our Youtube channel! However, as a non-profit, we recognize our own need for funding, so that we can rely less on volunteers, who can only commit limited time and energy to our vital mission. Therefore, we are excited to offer early access and exclusive perks, including interviews, special invitations, panel discussions, and other surprise materials, to Patrons who are willing to support our mission through different levels of monthly contributions.

We are dedicated to relying on support from the general public, and not becoming excessively dependent on large business donors for our funding. This way, rather than being beholden to corporate donors, we are only beholden to science, truth, and our mission. With your financial support, we can remain focused on bringing forth educational materials that destigmatize autism to the world.

We look forward to our time here on Patreon.

Let's get to work.
