About Reenacting Scouts

We are Crew 1939, a Venturing Crew chartered by the Jacksonville Museum of Military History to recreate the lives and battles of WWII soldiers.

As a Scouting unit, we promote leadership, ethics, fitness and discipline in those who join us.

We give leadership to the youth. As a youth-led program the youth are in charge. Our head Scout is known as the President, who decides how the meetings will be fun, and what uniforms will be worn by members.

The adults are there strictly as givers of advice and safety nets, since our “youth” members are 14-21 years old.

As a Reenacting unit, we go out and teach the general public about the culture and equipment of the greatest generation. Our men portray infantry soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division(US), and the 272 VolksGrenadier Division(German). Our ladies portray German and American Red Cross Nurses, and women of the American Women’s Auxiliary Corps.

We have recently considered branching into other eras to show even more aspects of history that people just cannot learn from history books or television programs.

We gather uniforms and equipment and tell the public about how they lived and used the items.
We build leadership, discipline, and fitness in the battles we attend.

While they are learning history in a different way, the Scouting side has ranks to accomplish, and members who make it through all four can apply for special Scholarships in college.

You can also find us on Facebook by typing in “Venturing Crew 1939, Arkansas”. We’re a new unit, so there isn’t much up, but there will be now that we are becoming more active.
