While Chicago’s persistent violence issues continue to dominate the national conversation, the city itself continues to struggle with the most basic of policing questions – exactly how many officers does Chicago need? The answer is often different depending on who is asked, whether Alderman, Police Captain, or social justice advocate.

At the Chicago Justice Project,we seek to answer this question using science and facts as we strive to make Chicago’s justice system work for all Chicagoans. We fight to make public data from Chicago’s criminal justice systems and then use the latest in social science research methods to break down this information and make it available in a way that everyone can access and understand. Through our work we ensure citizens, advocates and elected officials have an accurate picture of the realities of the criminal justice system so we can help them address issues of racial inequality, social justice, and overall justice system reform.

Join with us as we seek to answer the questions that will make Chicago safer for everyone and help end the politicization of police resources in Chicago.
