Hello and thank you for visiting my page. I have a hard time referring to my business as any one thing because it will never be. The Gemini in me won't allow it. I am the owner and operator of Serotonin and The Forgotten Word where I share and sell my artwork, jewelry, journal pages, junk journals, photography, writings, zines, books, and pretty much a mixed bag of creative goodness.

I got the name for this business from two sources. Serotonin with a side of fries, please is the title of my food-themed collection of creative non-fiction (memoir) and poetry. The art side of my business used to be called Muses with Scissors. However, my significant other insisted that a paraphrased piece of Proverbs that I used on one of my compositions was missing a word. He has pointed this out in several other pieces as well. My paraphrase of Proverbs, in fact, did not have a missing word, but this friendly debate sticks to this day. Therefore, I couldn't think of a better name than The Forgotten Word.

I am a teacher by trade but my passion lies in art and creative writing. My most frequently used art forms are collage, mixed media, and drawing. I often intertwine my art with my poetry, and I plan to put out a zine of poems that also features some of my favorite artworks.

Currently, I am also in the midst of writing my first complete novel. Actually, I have two different stories going at the same time (Gemini brain!). A Jersey Pace follows the lives of fictional teachers and students at a special needs high school for at-risk teens with various disabilities. The story takes place in an old stone building situated on the outskirts of a fictional suburban town in Essex County, NJ. This first book of a novel series will capture the attention of a general audience interested in taking a candid, jarring, yet humorous look into the lives of Special Education teachers and their students. With suburban and urban settings packed within the small space of New Jersey, the dichotomy and parallelism in this human story will intrigue readers seeking a provocative mix of humor and pain. A reader is not required to have a background in education or Jersey life to engage in this story.

As far as the details regarding my second novel, I am not going to dig too deep into that because I truly don't know what the progress is going to look like in the coming year. A Jersey Pace will require a great deal of time and research as it is. I will tell you that the tentative title is Faith & Visions and it focuses on life after death, the supernatural, and metal illness, particularly schizophrenia and addiction.

So with all of these creative projects and passions going on, I often run into problems with two necessary elements of success - time and money. In regard to time, it sucks because I have very little. I am a Special Education teacher. The planning and prep that has to happen on a regular basis leaves little room for my business. To add insult to injury, I am also an adjunct professor of English at a community college. When I am not working, I also have to push myself to keep house, maintain healthy relationships with family and friends, and give my all to the men I love - my lifemate, John, and my dog, Franklin.

I am parking my pride and stubbornness and asking for any form of assistance. In order to achieve greater success as a writer and an artist, I need mental, emotional, and financial help. I support myself, and I am up to my elbows in student loans and other debts. Regular financial contributions to my projects and business would allow me more time and capabilities for creating and less time supplementing my regular income.

Thank you again for visiting and I hope to create some amazing art for you guys. All patrons will be acknowledged on all of my pages.
