Milestone Goals

That necessary evil of public liability insurance- boring!

$5 per month

The big nasty world means we have to cover our derriere now and again and the requirement where I live is to hold public liability insurance and I pay out $72 annually so even $1.00 a month will be a brilliant subsidy.

Provide quality materials for watercolour workshops and students...quality in = quality out!

$15 per month

I spend very little on workshop material for my students simply because I can't afford to share the good stuff and they so deserve better...$15 a month would enable me to provide much better quality materials for the watercolour workshops I run, meaning my students can enjoy much much better results, be more satisfied with their work AND feel utterly valued...I love them and want to show them that I do. I'll share regularly their paintings so you can see their thrilled expressions when they make something they value.

Keep me supplied with fabulous watercolour paper

Good watercolour paper makes the difference between meh results and AMAZING results, but at $10.00 a sheet for my absolute favourite hand made rough paper it's not entirely a cheap occupation, particulalry where some paintings have several (eh hum many) incarnations before they become patron ready! So enquipment is essential but not always factored into my final work. I use up $30 or $40 worth of paper every month...I'd love you to help me keep those paintings coming.

Tip Top Presentation

One of the biggest expenses and an indispensable one, is presenting work properly for sale- framing. It's come to a point in my career where DIY is no longer an option. I'm playing with the big boys now in exhibitions and galleries and to stand a chance of success I need to frame my work professionally. Sometimes this takes out as much as 1/3 of the retail price of a work, commission takes 40% and you can see that it's so hard to earn a living from selling work. If my pledges reach this goal it would be amazing, to not have to worry so much about framing my work and giving my paintings the tip top presentation they deserve.

Patreon super project

This is a big leap of faith! I plan to travel to Patreon in California, from England, to collaborate on a special project along with some other amazing fine artists of Patreon for the very first Artists residency and Makers Fair! I have accommodation offered by one of my wonderful patrons and so this goal would fund my travel. This is an amazing opportunity and one that you will be a part of. Will you help?

IT replacement Programme

Sorry to say my laptop is defunct, deceased...it is an ex-laptop which means I've needed to adjust my goals, postpone the web presence of my own website, and prioritise on being able to have the hardware to keep delivering my work, store electronic copy of my work and have a big ole window on the world. I'm almost there with the funds...one more push and I can sort out my storage and functionality problems. Soon. You guys are keeping me working, sharing and growing.

Web Presence - Sorted. My own website.

I'm lacking in my web portfolio rather, in that I do not have a domain or my own website. I want to consolidate my existing presence, Facebook, Twitter, Artfinder, PATREON, Pintrest.....etc on a proper website with my own domain. I'd love to include e-commerce on this so that I can offer my Patrons deals and vouchers to spend on my work. I want to share my work and stories with a wider audience and this would in turn keep us all connected...better! Of course I can also cross promote my colleagues too. I'm looking forward so much to this chapter of my journey, thanks for being part of it.

Plein Air Alaska painting retreat- Voyage of learning with some wonderful artists

So this is the big dream goal...I have been friends with a number of artists (the Painted Ladies oh lala!) who run amazing plein air painting retreats in Alaska, I know how much it would help me develop my skills and encourage the landscape artist within, but most of all to share time and experience with this group of brillaint artists would teach so much...I am but dreaming but hey! even the longest journey begins with a small step eh? Perhaps you could help me along on that road.

Hello, I'm Jill Griffin, an artist living and working in South Devon of England.
I have been painting and drawing for as long as I have been able to make marks, working primarily in watercolour, which I adore. I love it's unpredictable nature and often choose to work on rough handmade paper which makes it even more so. I love the translucent quality of this medium, but have also been known for pen and wash work and pastels. I have an eclectic style and am drawn to paint all sorts of things, from sea shells, to gardens, animals to abstracted town scapes. I also love to hide secrets and surprises in my work and am currently enjoying including family and friends in my 'Surprises' series and find inspiration from lots of things, the countryside, amazing trees, the coast, natural objects and the sculptural works of Rodin.
My paintings have travelled all over the world to new homes, which is always humbling but is a lovely feeling.
I exhibit my work here in Devon, In the Southwest west of England, at various locations and I founded a group of exhibiting artists (@DevonArtPop # devonartpop) and am also a tutor to a number of lovely private watercolour students.

My mantra is 'share and enjoy'
