First and foremost, we center the needs of the people in everything we do. Through an in-depth analysis, we determine what resources are needed for the area of work, and we organize those resources, so they are distributed to those who need them. Through this tactic, called ‘Serving the People,’ we give active volunteers from the community responsibility and leadership over the operations. We organize them into a committee which can relate those needs and specific socio-economic problems afflicting their communities to us. Working together, we develop a list of demands against the institutional power responsible for the issue, and we organize around it. Using our ‘Serving the People’ events, we conduct thorough political education on the causes of those problems- and continue to bring in community members into more advanced levels of organization.

We believe it is not enough to simply offer food and clothing to those in need. Instead, we see the basis of poverty and hunger being rooted in the lack of power that the working class has over our society. Currently, economic and political power is held by the owners of industry, finance, and commerce. Their interests are oppositional to the masses of working people, because they directly profit off our labor, need, and scarcity.

We believe that if the people had power over their places of work, their institutions, their communities, and the means to produce what they need to survive, poverty would be eradicated for the most part. The people are acutely aware of what they need, what problems affect them, and how best to solve it. If they have the power, they will solve the problems because it is in their best interest to do so. Our goal is to build that power.
