Do we not become what we love
And be lost forever thus
Whereas does it not behove
Of what we love to become us
May it be that I am
What I wish not be
Am I then a lamb
Or is the lamb then me
Am I the nymph unshod
My Mary that I wish for
Or do I mimic a god
That I haven't seen before
Is it true that I am vile
When I speak my mind
Or do I merely revile
My opponents, blind
I do not know what I might be
But I know what I'll become
To some Powerless and free
And the devil to some.
Do we not become what we love
And be lost forever thus
Whereas does it not behove
Of what we love to become us
May it be that I am
What I wish not be
Am I then a lamb
Or is the lamb then me
Am I the nymph unshod
My Mary that I wish for
Or do I mimic a god
That I haven't seen before
Is it true that I am vile
When I speak my mind
Or do I merely revile
My opponents, blind
I do not know what I might be
But I know what I'll become
To some Powerless and free
And the devil to some.
