Gia Magazine is a student-run publication that centers the voices queer and trans students in order to help the community realize its creative power. Born out of the office of ASUC Senator Teddy Lake, it is lovingly named after Teddy’s mentor and one of the most impactful queer/trans advocates in modern history: Juniperangelica “Gia” Cordova. Teddy hoped to build something to honor Gia that “would exist within ASUC in perpetuity." In paying homage to Gia, this publication strives to institutionalize and forever uphold her vital legacy of courage, activism, and unapologetic authenticity.
