Hello Everyone,

(Short Bio)
My name is Michael Avila and I was born and raised in Seaside, CA (residing in the Monterey Bay Area). I grew up in a very loving, supportive, and athletic household. I'm the youngest of six children (three sisters and two brothers). I'm truly blessed and thankful to have been raised by such a diverse and devoted family. One of the main things that kept my family tied together was sports itself. While growing up with my older siblings and cousins, I loved competing with them, playing backyard ball, or simply trying to win any game put my way (whether it was hide & seek, a board game or racing from light pole to light pole). They gave me that extra push I needed to better myself and to aspire to be great at everything I did. They also taught me to never settle for mediocrity! I participated in nearly every sport throughout my childhood (from age 5 till age 24). Soccer, baseball, basketball, track, football; you name it, I did it. My parents did a phenomenal job at keeping me heavily involved in positive extracurricular activities. By playing sports, it kept me focused on my schoolwork and influenced me to do the right things outside of competition; it certainly held me to a higher standard and made me more accountable for all my actions. I could have easily been a victim of negativity - - - caught up in the streets or simply went the wrong route in life. However, sports didn’t allow me to do that, it kept me busy and occupied. From sports, I learned what it meant to have a hard work ethic, discipline, commitment, and perseverance. Sports as well as fitness training were my way of expressing myself, being free, and getting away from all of my problems; it was literally my safe haven. Out of all the sports I partook in, football was the one I excelled in the most and was also my favorite. My hard work paid off and I earned myself a full ride scholarship during high school to continue playing football at the Division 1 level (San Jose State University). I graduated with a BA in Kinesiology.

After life in college, I trained rigorously to get an opportunity to live out my dream of playing professionally in the NFL. I was signed as an un-drafted free agent in 2012 & 2013 before being released prior to the season openers. I continued a few more years of the grind while traveling to tryout camps for both the CFL (Canadian Football League) and AFL (Arena Football League). I gave it my all and searched for anything to get my foot in the door and another shot at playing pro ball. When I had my first newborn boy, I finally decided it was the end of the road for my football career. It was time to move on and it was also the start of a new chapter of my life. It was a very rough transition from being a student athlete my entire life to going into the real world and having to get real job. I struggled but I still had a fire that burned within and a newfound motivation with the birth of my baby boy. From there, I began my personal training business.

The best approach for filling the void in my heart is helping others reach their goals. Educating all my clients on all the knowledge, skill, and expertise I've acquired throughout my life is what inspires me. Guiding the youth in the right direction is something I pride myself on. Providing mentorship, friendship and helping create healthier, more well rounded people/athletes is what I strive to do daily.

Predominantly, the athletes/clientele I work with come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds or single parent households. It’s difficult enough for them to maintain and affording training sessions are just another obstacle. I believe these personal training sessions are vital for these kids development in their respective sport because it can potentially help them earn a full ride scholarship to college. More importantly, it keeps them engaged in something productive, active and positive as it did for me in my childhood. This can change their lives forever. Many of them don’t understand the dynamics of having optimal nutrition to increase their performance both on the field and in the classroom; So I want to make sure they receive the proper dietary foods to consume in order to perform at a higher level. Also, most lack a decent pair of shoes/cleats to work out in and I want to be able to aid in providing that for them as well. I’ve always wanted to help out those who are in need and personal training these young men/women are the reasons why it’s rewarding to do what I do, especially seeing them progress and get results they work for. I really want to be more impactful in my hometown and have a much more positive influence on the youth - - And by receiving some extra help I can do that!

I would really appreciate any help offered.
I simply cannot perform all these demanding tasks on my own & without the support from you all.

Here are the expenses that I would need assistance with providing for future workouts:

Items Needed for Funding:
-Equipment : (Ladders, Cones, Resistant Bands, Balls, Sport Specific Shoes/Clothing, etc.)
-Nutrition : (Pre/Post Workout Meals, Snacks & Hydration)
-Fitness Session Fees (1 on 1 Training, Group Training, Team Training)

I know money is hard to come by but by making a contribution, it truly goes a long way. It would mean the world to these kids. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated! Let’s all be a team player; be selfless, give to others and be a servant. Please help me make this community better, more productive and give back to the younger generation b/c they are our future! Thank you and God bless.
