About Charlotte Furness - Writer
I was looking around for something more creative to do when my husband was offered a secondment at CERN in Geneva for 18months. I decided that this was my time to do what I had always dreamed of doing - setting myself up as a freelance writer and digital marketing consultant.
Fast-forward to June 2019 and I'm almost 3 years in to working for myself. It's been really, REALLY tough at times, but there have been incredible highs along the way; one of which was the publication of my first book - Lady of the House in July 2018.
But writing is an underpaid profession, and whilst I never wanted to be a writer for the money, I still need to pay for the roof over my head and the food on my table.
At the moment I am working 3 days a week freelance for a music festival and whilst I love that job, it really eats in to my creative work.
I have also built up a lovely little community on YouTube - people who watch my "Day in the Life of a Writer" videos and other tips and advice videos that I've published.
I get asked questions all the time about how I got started as a writer, what people can do to get their first writing job, where to look for jobs etc. and as a result of this I want to help build this community - to give you newsletters, more and better video content, and a group where we can discuss writing in a safe and supported space.
Another huge project which I want to get off the ground in the next 6months is a range of heritage based children's books.
So, to be completely honest (because honesty is ALWAYS the best policy when you're asking someone to give you money) - I am asking for your support as a patron to help me achieve the goals above, and to be able to give more back to you, my lovely writing community.
Thank you :)
