About Workspace Community Workshops

Workspace Community Workshops is a non profit based in Cape Town South Africa. Founded in 2012 to facilitate skills and resource exchange across the social divide.
We have an opportunity to assist some members of a very poor fishing community with 50% of youth unemployed, to be trained in wooden boat building.

Through a generous donation, we have acquired two famous old wooden boats with which to start the school. Workspace has an exemplary record of training in other skills in the past. See our intro video. The boat building section is just an add on to the existing programs.

"Brat of Dunkirk" was built in 1913 by Camper & Nicolson in the UK and took part in the Dunkirk evacuations in WW2. The other is "Wylo", and Islander design, buillt by Frank Wightman, whose best selling books are part of the Mariners Library along with esteemed authors such as Joseph Conrad, Ernest Hemingway and Joshua Slocum.

We have the boats, we have a team and we wish to film the experience and journey of the the young men and women who will restore these old vessels back to their former glory and re enact their voyages.
We require funding to pay salaries, rent for space and materials.
Come join usin this adventure - some of our Patreons will get to sail these old vessels.
