"The Last Dragon Rider"The foul hot air rushed past of the face of Madelyn, blowing her beautiful hair wildly away from her soft pretty face. Madelyn had just stumbled into the dark, damp lair of the huge, fierce dragon Uakual. She looked around the great hall of this long thought extinct monster, in the far corner she saw what she had travelled the vast distance to claim. Out of the corner of her eye Madelyn saw a flash of colour, she turned in the direction of the movement, her eyes grew wide as she started to comprehend what was now before her. From the tip of his long spiky tail to the end of his elongated, elegant snout, this was the most impressive creature that Madelyn had ever uncounted. Uakual’s scales reflected the flickering of Madelyn’s, almost extinguished, torch. This gave the mighty man eater an orange reddish glow, making him even the more terrifying. Her only calming thought was the beast appeared to be in a deep slumber.
Madelyn started to stealthily make her way across the hall, carefully making as little noise as possible. As she reached the centre of the cave, she glanced back towards the dragon to ensure he was still in his hibernation. For the briefest moment Madelyn was hypnotised by the sheer mass of this behemoth, in that moment she stumbled into an ancient set of armour, long left behind by one of Uakual’s previous meals. The armour clashed together making a sound that would have woken the dead, the beast’s eyelids snapped open allowing Madelyn to see the fiery red eye of the mighty dragon that was now staring directly at her. Uakual slowly and purposefully raised up standing on all four legs as his massive wings stretched out filling his enormous home. His eyes did not leave Madelyn, even for the briefest instant, and she felt as if the dragon was peering directly into her soul and measuring her worth as a foe, the daughter of Ailion knew in her heart of hearts that the creature had found her to be wanting. As this realisation dawned on her, her stomach filled with the dread of the thousand warriors the dragon had consumed before her. Their fears, faults and failures now belonged to her.
