The Victoria Jazz Orchestra needs your support to help fund their first recording project!

The Victoria Jazz Orchestra is Vancouver Island’s premier big band and has been featured at the Victoria and Nanaimo International Jazz Festivals. Led by saxophonist and composer Monik Nordine, the orchestra features soloists, composers, and conductors from BC and other parts of Canada including Chelsea McBride, John Korsrud, P.J. Perry, Mike Allen, Andrew Homzy, Greg Bush, Jennifer Scott, Valdy, Maria Manna, Jill Townsend, Bill Coon, Alan Matheson, Ian McDougall, Tony Genge, Ryan Oliver, Melinda Whitaker and more.

The band was formed in 2013 and many of the big band’s first performances were held at Victoria’s historic Hermann’s Jazz Club.

This is going to be a multi-stage project as follows:

Part 1 is to prepare the charts
- we will need another 4-5 arrangements created for this as we have half of the material ready to go

Part 2 is to rehearse and record
- this part is where we pay the musicians and sound engineer for their time and also rent a space to record the album

Part 3 is producing, mastering, packaging and distribution of the finished product
- this is the final and crucial stage

The project will take at least 2 years to complete and the estimated overall cost is $25 000.  If you would like to be a part of this process we invite you to help us out with any amount.  If you are unable to donate, please share this with your friends and we thank you for taking the time to read our page :-)
