This is experimental, BUT you can count on us! :)   (BTW, this is Trey Ratcliff writing this... there's some crazy stuff in here...)

After doing about 100 shows last year, we decided to get "the old gang back together" for something entirely new, different, and Awesome! In this weekly photography show, it'll be a combination of "The Voice" and relative insanity. Every week, we'll have about 5 or so photos come into the Big Competition.  There will be a simple point-scoring system that will be controversial because it is so confusing.  But there will be an ultimate winner every week!

What else is in the show?  Well, all the photos will be critiqued and defended, and we may even pick random photos from the audience to critique every week.  Well, that only happens if one of the guests says a taboo word (like "Bokeh, Flickr, Heroin"), and new ones are decided each week during a somewhat inebriated pre-show.  I'm getting a little too into some of the quirky bits.
Let's back up a minute!  Back it up... beep beep beep...

SO, we started this new thing called The Arcanum, The Magical Academy of Artistic Mastery. You can see more at www.TheArcanum.com if you've never heard of it.  The Arcanum has a bunch of Masters, each of whom has about 20 Apprentices. It's a very fun (and somewhat private, secret) society where Apprentices level up from Level 1 to Level 20 and beyond.  Along the way, they do challenges, quests, and get many critiques.

Now, if you're already a Grand Library Member or full Apprentice Member of The Arcanum, then you'll get the whole show for free ASAP!

Okay, got that part above?  Now let's talk about how this crazy show is connected with The Arcanum.

Essentially, this show is the public-facing side of The Arcanum where we have a chance to show you some of the best work and ideas that are being generated on a regular basis.

Each week we will choose about 5 random Masters from The Arcanum to be on the show.  They will come in representing one of their Apprentices, whose work they want to bring into the weekly Creation War. That's the bit that's kind of like The Voice.  They'll share their photo, tell us a bit about the Apprentice, and then defend why they think it is such an interesting photo!  The other Masters will each get their say.  They can be complementary or a bit harsh.  Anything goes.  There's a bit of gamesmanship too, you see, because each Master will have 10 stars they can bestow to vote on the other photos (they can't vote on their own).  There are other little rules too that make it sort of confusing and a constant state of controversy.  If we decide to make any rule changes for simplification, it will only be to increase the amount of controversy.

Besides ALL THAT, I'll have Gino Barassa as my sidekick to keep the party going as we wrangle all these Masters around each show. We'll also start each show by talking about some recent photo news, maybe some new gear, you know, awesome photo-geeky stuff. And there will be New Amazing People every week to talk about this stuff with.  I am SO EXCITED.

We've never tried Patreon before, but my good friends Andrew Mayne (see Weird Things) and Brian Brushwood (Night Attack!) are a huge believers.  And, I'm a huge believer in you.  We have many ideas to bring you special stuff if you support the show and the people on it.

THANK YOU!
