Hey there.

My name’s Mark [Hi Mark] and I have world-builder’s disease*. Thanks for checking out my Patreon page, where modern-day patrons sponsor creators like me. I have been writing speculative fiction since 2005. I started a coming-of-age fantasy novel during National Novel Writing Month in November of that year and have written nearly 687,000 glorious, unpublished words (according to NaNoWriMo, and I have written a few tens of thousands outside of WriMo). Some of those words were actually rather good. A famous author once said you need to write a million words to be a competent writer. I’m getting close. Distraction is my biggest enemy - that and the aforementioned world-builder’s disease, which is a fancy way of saying that I get distracted by dreams of new worlds, characters, plots, magic systems, etc. and rarely finish the old story before charging off into the new one. Eight unfinished drafts and two finished - yet unedited - drafts later, I come to you with a proposition.

I have stories and ideas, and you like to read. Lets make a deal.

You help me with my month to month expenses (and I know that Patreon won’t pay for my every expense) and I will provide you with a few hours distraction from the mundanities of reality. I have web hosting expenses, certain subscriptions, and once I am published I’ll want to start attending conventions and conferences and other writerly events. But even more than financial help, your patronage will help keep me on task and focused, less likely to wander off and start new projects. I would never expect Patreon to replace my regular job of rideshare and delivery driving, but earning rent and food money cuts way back on my writing time.

The plan: Finish writing books. Good books.

What do you write, you ask?

As a World Wrighter, I create fantasy stories, historical supernatural adventures, urban fantasy, science fiction, and a slew of other, character and plot-based stories. Most of my fiction contains action, adventure, and romance. Themes include tough moral choices, overcoming bullying and oppression, and struggling to achieve past personal limitations.
Become a patron and you will learn who I am and what is relevant in my life, but you’ll also have access to my older stories, chapters of unfinished books as well as chapters of my current project, and at higher tiers, you get to give feedback as well as make suggestions to help me choose future projects.

Thank you for your interest in my writing. I know that together we can wright worlds, people them, throw them into the fire and pull them out again, and fulfill many of our fantasies.
