Here is an article I wrote when someone asked me how to become more like a Navy SEAL. I never been a SEAL, but I get asked how to act and think like a warrior all the time. That said, there are a few things I thought needed to be said and I used this article to do it. There is a lot to learn, but a lot that many people just don't understand. I hope you all enjoy it.

People watching the continuing story of the Middle East have been keeping their eyes not on Iraq recently, but Berlin. Der Spiegel has recently published a large article, referenced in mine, that has proven a gold mine for private military analysts like me. It has opened many of our eyes to darker secrets behind how their structure was designed not by fanatical religious sects, but by the descendents of Stalinistic military police states. GoFundMe Denies Defense Funding to Baltimore Police Officers

I had a beef with a few decisions being made by the team at GoFundMe. It isn't that I have decided that the police officers involved in the death at Baltimore are innocent, but I don't think that crowdsourcing sites (like this one) should be in the business of gaining money for defense fees, especially, when companies are being so selective about who they allow to raise money. Either way, I'd love to hear your comments, thoughts and ideas, whether you disagree or not. Thanks and I hope you all enjoy.

Today's post interrupts the boot camp series to give folks something that is sorta' related. In this post I talk about some of the deeper meaning behind Stanley Kubrick's acclaimed war drama, Full Metal Jacket and mostly why it is kinda a load of BS. It's gets a little preachy, but hopefully you're all used to that by now. Hope you all enjoy.

What the Star Spangled Banner Means to an American

I know that some of my greatest supporters are friends from overseas, but today is America's birthday, and as one of America's greatest fans I was motivated to write about it. In another Quora question turned post, I took the chance to talk about why we would choose a poem that doesn't, at first glance, seem all that related to America. It was just a cool story about a flag in a battle. Look deeper and you see, that there really isn't a better anthem for a nation quite like ours.

Thanks and happy Independence Day from America!

Hey followers of JDT. Glad to be moving along with my guide to boot camp series. This post talks about the initial beginning to boot camp, Receiving. It also talks about something many people might find dubious, and that is the "outside the skinner box" mental pressures recruits are put under to get them shape up quickly to the military and training lifestyle.

I'm not going to lie. This one gets gruesome, not graphically. There's is no worries about that, but in the scientifically backed implications of it. People ask the weirdes stuff, but someone has to answer it.

What's worse. I don't know who I distrust more, the people who like this sort of thing, or me for writing it. That said, I hope you all enjoy it... kind of.

The Real Meaning of the POW/MIA Flag

I've been published in Newsweek again!

There was a quite a kerfuffle put out a few days ago when a writer for the Washington Spectator cried out in a really weird rant that, along with other flags you've probably heard about lately, the POW/MIA flag is also a symbol of racism that needs to be removed.

That's pretty dumb, but I was privileged that a friend and one of the editors at Newsweek called me to give a response over what the real meaning to flag is as it waves today. Thanks everyone and I hope you enjoy.

The question comes up a lot on why we still drill in an era where armored troop transports carry Marines across the battlefield and 747’s can fly them across the world. Here I talk about the reasoning behind the tradition dating back thousands of years, as it is applied today.
