Here's my website, to show you some examples of my work.
As I've gotten older, and become more aware of the world, it's become important for me to express issues that are relevant to both me and those I care about, such as feminism and gender equality. And now, in 2016, it's most important for me to create something positive, and to put it out into the world as a kind of counterbalance to all the negativity and strife that clogs our news sources and social media feeds.
This is why I started drawing Katie Dreams, a surreal comic about the imagined dreamtime adventures of an actual dog that I was taking care of. I post the comic online as I make it, a panel per day, so that it sort of unfolds synchronously for both me and the readers.
It's been so exciting, because my intentions with the comic are being realized. There's been such a steadily growing reception of positivity and joyousness from my audience. I've gotten so much feedback about the project, and it seems that it really is making a small difference in peoples lives. I'd like to think that reading one day's installment of Katie Dreams gives the reader a moment of reprieve from anything else that may be stressing them out. I know that it does the same for me while I'm making it.
This brings me to why I'm on Patreon. I want to expand upon Katie Dreams, as well as my other comics and art projects. I'm working hard to create a legitimate art practice -- something larger than what I've done in the past -- so that it can reach more people. But I can't do this alone. I need your help.
