I'm extra excited to share this one with you because I have been waiting a long time to release this song. Nearly 4 years actually. I recorded this version of one of my very favorite Tom Waits songs many years ago and thought that I'd include it on my first solo album. But, it didn't make the cut and I have never actually released it until now! I actually had to *learn how to dance* for this ;) hehee The amazing choreographer/dancer/actress Rita Alicia Marqués literally taught me how to dance just for this! "The Daylight Here" (Alternate Version)

Heyo, I just recorded this song as my entry to NPR's Tiny Desk Contest. If you know what's good for you, you're already familiar with the version I recorded with Nataly Dawn for our band My Terrible Friend. It's one of my favorites that I've written, so I decided to roll with it for my Tiny Desk submission. If you don't know what a Tiny Desk Concert is, look it up on YouTube. You will see a bunch of performances by every band I like. The winner of this contest gets to do one of those, so I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. Actually, that sounds too casual. Entering an NPR contest as an independent musician is more like trying to stuff a sombrero into a subway car that's already totally full of hats. So, you know. I thought I'd do that. So happy to share this never-before-released demo cover of Rhythm of the Rain! We put our own twist on this song from The Cascades - remember them!?! It was originally released in 1962 :) I grew up in Southern California listening to the oldies station: K-EARTH 101 and this song was played a LOT and made it into my psyche ;) Recorded with The incredibly talented Jeremy D'Antonio up in the North Bay. I'm not sure if I'll release this version publicly ... right now, this is just for Patrons! Just let me know in the comments if you'd like the mp3 emailed to you! Big Star Cover- "Thirteen"

I've loved this song since hearing Elliott Smith's version of it, which was prominently featured on a mix CD I got from a friend in 2007. (It was also on Elliott's album "New Moon," but I'd argue the mix CD was more significant.) I used to play it from time to time in my open mic days and it's never really gotten old, so I decided to lay it down over the weekend with some added guitar bits. Hope you like it, and thanks for yours ears, eyes, and interest as always. -Lauren
