I've walked a great many roads in this life, and worn more hats than I can remember. Always I come back to music. I suppose it began in the womb, hearing my mother sing. And there were the long car trips from Pittsburgh to Florida and back, all that classic '70's AM radio fare. I still recall the glorious blare of sound at skating rinks, the enormous console stereo in our house, long nights lying awake with a transistor radio hidden beneath my pillow, recording the Top 40 every week with a cassette recorder. I was obsessed long before I knew what that meant. My first instrument was the cornet, followed by piano and eventually guitar. As an awkward and terrified teenager (weren't we all?) I found sanity (or something close to it) in the rundown $200 cabinet-grand piano in our basement. A brief stint at college gave way to years of wandering around with a guitar, playing solo or in bands, and learning how to get by on next to nothing. A brush with death in the late '90's made it all but impossible to play for awhile, but I had to get back to music. So here I am, a dreamer still dreaming, a devoted disciple of the Muse, a penitent parishioner praying in the temple of sound. I make music because I am driven to do so, driven by forces that I neither understand nor wish to overcome. Maybe every man has a mission on the Earth. Maybe I know mine.
Having said all of that, it's necessary to explain that my music is all over the place but tends toward blues-based acoustic catharsis. Generally I reveal a lot through song; the troubles I contend with, the doubt, fear, and desire that I'm constantly struggling with. I'm a bit of a live wire and that's reflected, but I hope you'll agree that a song is a song and not a perfect snapshot of reality.

Believe that I appreciate help. Yes. Proof? I'll send you (within one week of your pledge) the Complete Recordings So Far, a two CD set of 30 pieces of music in "demo" form. In other words, fully composed songs recorded in somewhat ramshackle fashion. Also you will receive a CD copy of "The Open Sea" which will be mailed 60 days after the pledge goal is met.

What I've been unable to do so far is concentrate fully on the creative process. I've got a real life with real responsibilities, and they tend to get in the way. Sometimes I'm employed and sometimes I'm just coping with the consequences of having an artistic temperament. Anyway, the idea is to produce a document of my work that will consist of 13 songs (baker's dozen!) performed, recorded and polished to the best of my ability. I'm estimating that it will take two months to do this, and that all expenses necessary to complete the project will be covered by the stated goal amount.
