The Culture Care Podcast is the official podcast of Makoto Fujimura's Culture Care movement and community. Mako has defined Culture Care as the antidote to culture wars. Culture Care teaches that culture is a garden to be tended and an ecosystem to share, not a territory to be fought over.

At this time when our society is decimated by culture wars, artists are essential voices in rejuvenating the cultural soil. We must respond to the harshness and brokenness in global culture by revealing the cracks and by creating healing works of beauty and nurture.

The calling to make and to heal is best accomplished through community. The Culture Care Podcast seeks to support and expand a diverse community of inspired makers who will care for each other, for our global family, and for our planet.

The podcasts are hosted by Brianna Kinsman and Mako Fujimura. Brianna has professional training in writing, theater, and music. She earned a Master's degree in Theology and Art at Fuller Theological Seminary. Brianna is one of Mako's Fujimura Fellows, a cohort of young artists who will be ongoing participants in these podcasts.

The Culture Care Podcasts will convene artists, scholars, students, public figures, and others in conversations and experiences centered on art, faith, ethics, beauty, and culture.

Kintsugi will be a central theme. Kintsugi is the venerable Japanese tradition of mending to make new. The physical Kintsugi process most often relates to repairing ceramics. Metaphorically, Kintsugi shows us that, through beholding and then mending the brokenness and trauma in our lives and our culture, we can create something new that is more beautiful and precious than before the fracture.
