Mike Tyson's PunchOut!! For Orchestra + Dance

My first Patreon! As promised, here I've combined dance and orchestra - and this week was Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! The idea for this, which you're helping make possible, is to combine orchestra, dance, cosplay, storytelling, and visual effects. The choreography, music, and even the video quality will improve over time - it's all about baby steps. I didn't realize how much would go into this. Coming from a world of music I thought it was going to take a week or two, but then it wound up taking 4 months! Granted, that was almost all startup costs and learning as-you-go, so moving forward will be a lot easier, faster, funner, hopefully better. I can't explain how much it means to me that you're helping me on this journey. Inter-collaborating the arts has always been very important to me and shaped everything about what I believe about today. Music, in itself, it not the feature presentation. Neither is dance. Nor the video. The feature is having all of them come together! So for this parody, if you're not familiar with the Nintendo game by the same name, it's between to fighters: Little Mac and Don Flamenco. Little Mac is the hero whereas Don Flamenco is one of the stronger fighters who tries to stop you from achieving the "Title Bout". But what really brought me into the game, aside from how fun it was, was the music. The theme when you turned it on, the background music when a player fell down, and even the melodies in-between matches. It was so fun, upbeat, and memorable. Memorable - that's the word to always reach for. For something to be memorable it can't just be good, it has to be relatable and we have to identify with it. We can all identify with being the underdogs and we can all identify with celebrating a small victory and moving onto the next "round" towards something more difficult. So now the first round is done all because of your support, encouragement, and enthusiasm. The next round may very well be more difficult but one thing will always be certain: I'll do my best to make every piece memorable, beautiful, and collaborative. Those are the real things that makes a piece of art relatable. I'm so thankful that you're here with me on this first step so that I'm not alone, and I look forward to taking this next step, together.

Jacob Hoeben I never played that game or heard the music for it but this video seems really great! I think it's even better than your previous two so far, but I feel I may have some bias since I knew the original music for those. Still, I really see improvement and I can't wait to see even more!

Walt Ribeiro @Jacob Yea I've grown a lot since my last video. The one I'm shooting this week looks even better - both in video quality and performance. Onward and upward!
