Hello Patrons!! my name is Ray.J Hunt and I was born in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. I signed up to Patreon to get my comic book up and running and out to all of you guys. I heard about Patreon through different podcasts online, my favorite one being “ dirty old ladies”. When I was young, I picked up my first comic book titled, New warriors #4” at a local convenience store near my home. The comic book New Warriors” displayed a team of young superheroes working for a secret intelligence agency within the government, later finding out that the agencies true intentions for the young teens were detrimental.
I was constantly reading comic books at a young age and one of the comics that inspired me most was a short story of Wolverine created by Len Kaminski and Kirk Jarvinin. This short story was a back story in one of Marvel’s “Uncanny X-Men series. It really inspired me to want to write and illustrate my own short stories and comics and it showed me that you can tell a story from a deeper, more cognizant point of view.
After High School, I was interviewed by Bright Anvil Comics which was a comic book company that did work for Marvel and D.C Comics. I didn’t stay very long because I was offered the opportunity to attend Centennial College in the Program for Art Fundamentals here in Toronto. From there, I attended the Ontario College of Art and Design University, completing a drawing and painting degree. During my time there I desired to learn more about comic books so I decided to take a course with Ty Templeton called Comic Book Boot Camp.
My education in art didn’t come without hardships though. For six years I worked for the City of Toronto   where I drove trucks, patched up water mains, and recorded water temperatures. In 2007, I was diagnosed with a mental illness - anxiety depression, and lived on the streets of Toronto for   months, going in and out of the hospitals due to the mental illness. Although I faced many barriers in life, I feel like I’m truly coming back into my own, with more stories, a greater outlook on life, and a new experience of comic book storytelling to give to you!! the Patrons!!!
