chinaSMACK Neither Fauna nor I (Kai) have the time anymore to either translate or ensure the quality of translations. As you know, we had a very high standard for ourselves, seeking to be accurate in both detail and tone, because what's interesting isn't merely what was said but HOW it was said. Unfortunately, at the current level of revenue we have from patrons and advertising, we can't afford to hire a reliable translator or editor to meet the quality we need. Rather than doing a bad job, we'd rather just not do it. Our existing funding (barely, if that) allows us to pay a few contributors to summarize trending stories, which is why we are in the situation that we are. We ultimately need someone who is not just bilingual but intimately familiar with the idioms and slang of both Chinese and English. They should also be major geeks who are heavily active on the Chinese internet. Such a person is very difficult to find, vet, and afford.
