Hi, I'm Veronica. Thank you for coming over to take a look at my profile!

Who am I?
I'm a writer, editor, and a lifelong advocate for great literature.

What have I written?
My work has appeared in venues like the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Salon, the Times Literary Supplement, Bookforum, BOMB magazine, and many more. I've been a guest of literary festivals and book fairs all around the world, including New York City, London, Montreal, Toronto, and San Francisco.

I'm currently in the middle of writing my fifth book.

If you're so inclined, you can find out more about my writing here.

Why am I here on Patreon?
My life and career is very much centered around paid publishing and writing gigs, but I also spend a lot of time doing uncompensated work.

For over a decade, I've established a track record of bringing attention to deserving indie presses, mentoring up-and-coming writers and translators, making innovative authors more visible, and generally making the literary world a place that I want to exist in.

This work is largely uncompensated, and it takes time away from my own writing career, but I think It's hugely important to do in order to keep the literary scene thriving and to perpetuate our values throughout the culture.

So I hope you'll consider supporting this work and enabling me to do more of it with a donation on Patreon.

How have I helped?
Since 2004 I've maintained Conversational Reading, a popular blog that has become a go-to place to find out about new literary works, especially from indie presses and international authors that are traditionally neglected. Numerous works of indie lit have found publishers because of this website, and countless writers, presses, and translators have been featured, helping them connect with audiences, make new industry connections, and become inspired to keep doing what they do.

Since 2005 I've edited The Quarterly Conversation, a popular online journal that has become an established venue for in-depth discussion about important new writers. With nearly 50 issues in 12 years, The Quarterly Conversation has helped launched the careers of many aspiring writers, helped up-and-coming international authors find presses to publish them in the United States, and contributed to the thriving indie lit scene.

I also maintain an active Twitter presence that helps spread word about great books and establish connections between book-lovers and industry professionals.

What about that writing career?
Right! I'm also the author of four books, contributor to numerous anthologies, and a presence in numerous journals, magazines, newspapers, and websites.

Much of my work is compensated, but oftentimes the compensation is low, and a lot of what I do is done for free as pro bono labor for the good of the artistic community.

What can you do?
I'm up on Patreon in order to provide an easy way to support the work I do, for anyone who thinks it's important and would like to enable me to do more of the things I do.

I'm friendly, and I'd love to hear from you! Please reach out to me by email at editor AT quarterlyconversation DOT com. Or connect with me on Twitter and Facebook.
