Okay here's the deal with who we are and why we're starting a Patreon account:

First , the Rise Together team would like to take a moment and thank everyone who has supported us over the past 3+ years; especially the thousands of students out there that have believed in us and our mission.

When we started, we honestly were just sick and tired of losing friends and family to the disease of addiction. Already by 2013, not only did Doug and I already lose 17 different friends to drugs but when we asked around, we weren’t the only ones that were suffering from a loss. Everyone we asked seemed to know someone struggling with an addiction.

Unfortunately, nobody really seemed to be talking about it. Not at home, in the neighborhood, at church, at schools, or hardly anywhere and in our world SILENCE = DEATH. We started with the attitude "if we could just save one child" then all of our efforts would be worth it.

When we start thinking about long-term sustainability it makes the most sense to focus on our core talents and capabilities as a team. We are speakers that are educating through storytelling. So in retrospect, the bigger audience that we can capture the more likely we are to help and save the lives of our youth. Moving forward, here are a couple ways we look to do this….

  • Through our educational school tour w/student-led advocacy initiatives
  • Online educational programs, products, and services
  • Developing community supporters

Your help would directly help us EDUCATE, ENGAGE, and EMPOWER 1,000’s of youth through our efforts which include things like…

Our school-speaking program and our Rise & Grind Recovery Radio Show which is one of our online educational tools. With your help we could positively impacts millions of young people across the nation & around the world.

In the past we have received donations from community supporters, foundations, hospital associations, and police departments. Now more then ever, we need your help. We have been encouraged to try Patreon to create a better way to support our show and our mission as a whole to continue saving our Nation's youth.

Today, I am proud to announce that Rise Together's mission is rapidly spanning the United States and helping to save the lives of youth. Over the past 3 years, I have personally traveled over 100,000 miles with the most amazing team, taken the stage over 400 times, and educated over 125,000 people.

Rise Together is creating a movement of young people by encouraging students to stand up and speak out on the issues they care most about; breaking the silence around suicide, bullying, mental illness, drugs & alcohol. We do this by...

Educating– through storytelling
Engaging– young people to become advocates of change
Empowering– youth through education

We primarily engage Middle Schools, High Schools, Colleges, and other public settings by providing a variety of speaking engagements, special events, public panels, and workshops.

Now it's 2017. We want more than anything to keep the momentum going. With the countless hours that I have personally put in over the past 3 years here’s what I know:

  • We want Rise Together to last for a very long time. We know that we have a strong vision, purpose, and mission that is truly helping to save the lives of our youth. Whether we are speaking directly to students in schools, connecting students to recovery resources & additional support, or extending motivation and mentorship via online, we have over 2,000 testimonies where students state we have helped to change or save their life.
  • Rise Together needs to be self-sustaining: if our mission is going to last for a long time Rise Together needs to be able to support itself. Although, support for preventive and advocacy efforts like ours are limited; making it very difficult to sustain long-term.
Rise & Grind Recovery Radio is brought to you by me, Anthony Alvarado; who is a person in long-term recovery and recognized as a national speaker, writer, and one of the leading voices in the recovery movement who has a strong desire to change the conversation around addiction and in turn - change the world we live in today.

With, Rise & Grind Recovery Radio, we look to invite conversation from all over the nation & around the world to help illustrate that recovery is possible for everyone; regardless of what you struggle with. I love to start a conversation with anyone and am credited with getting thousands to advocate for the change this world needs to see.

We have already launched 20+ episodes with local and national organizational leaders, national advocates, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, and other passionate story tellers; which can be found at www.weallrisetogether.org

Rise & Grind episodes are also available on iTunes , Stitcher , YouTube , via our blog/feed , News Talk 97.5 FM & 1360 am on Sunday’s 11:30 am. You can also catch shows via our social media channels like Instagram , Twitter , and Facebook . Also available on Sober Nation Podcasts & soon to be on Spotify*

What we will use the money for?

That money plus the support we already receive for our youth outreach efforts already will be enough to keep Rise Together going. Here are some of our costs:

Production Costs - if we want to continue delivering the best show or the best programs we needs to cover the costs. Period.
Hosting. We need a robust enough hosting plan to support the highest spikes in traffic we ever get so we don't crash.
MailChimp. The service we use to email posts out to the subscription list. This fee grows as the email list grows.
Ongoing web development. It's a website, so there are always upsetting glitches coming out of nowhere and occasionally, we add a new site feature. I don’t have the programming skills, so we need to pay someone for this.
Social media post "boosts". When we announce a new post on social media, this makes sure that our shows are being heard to at least 1/4 or 1/2 of our growing audience.
Our Team. We need to continue to eat, bathe and keep the lights on as I write, draw posts, and create shows. We all have families that we need to take care of.
Additional employees. We need more people to handle things like translation or redistribution requests, spam comment deletion, store upkeep, store customer service, and a bunch of other little jobs. These things end up adding up to a few hours every day, and without this employee, I end up doing it all and have much less time to write posts.

Each week, we work tirelessly to bring you top-notch, sweat and tears content and public service. We live for this stuff.  This is our purpose.

And now we'd like to actually fully invest ourselves in our mission. That's where you come in: if you chip in a couple bucks per month, we can finally expand our mission.

Rest assured: the show will always remain free. But if we receive enough financial support per month, we'll have the means to support our programs, produce extra episodes, and even take the show on the road with us during our school/university tour's. In a perfect world, we'd be able to reach every person in the United States. With your help, we'd like to make that happen.

The way Patreon works is a supporter can donate whatever they want per month and the donation is recurring each month after that. So anything, from $1/month up, is hugely helpful to the cause.

That's the basics. With those pieces covered, Rise Together can continue to create one of the largest cultural movements this world has ever seen; helping to save the lives of youth everywhere!
